paradise ; the rising of the shield hero

eight ; catastrophe

GROANS AND SCREAMS filled the village as we evacuated the people.

"It's nice to have you back!" Filo said as she pushed a goblin away from me.

"It's good to be back" I laughed as Raphtalia patted my back. I turn to see Naofumi briefly but he never met my gaze.

I frown seeing his anger for me. It made me feel guilty, I should've never left.

Distracted a lizard man sneaked up on me throwing me onto the ground. "Ah fuck" I muttered as it snarls at me. Reaching for my blades it hits me with its tail again causing me to roll away from my blades.

Just as it was about to hit me again Naofumi jumps in front of me putting his shield before me.

I take the chance to grab my blades jumping up before slashing through its chest.

I landed on my feet turning to face Naofumi.

"Naofumi-"

"You have to be careful! Never let your guard down!" I bit my lip as he lectures me. "Okay okay i get it I'm sorry"

He rolls his eyes walking away. I follow him behind.

"What are they doing there?" Naofumi question about the other hero's. "You should go up there and help end this" One of the knights on Naofumi's side reply.

"Yeah we will take care of this place" An old lady promised. Nodding Naofumi grabs Raphtalia and I hands pulling us into Filo "Let's go"

We spotted Itsuki the bow hero shooting up to a flying ship."The other hero's are up there, they don't listen to reas-"

Naofumi doesn't let him finish his sentence as he makes Filo leap up towards the ship.

Hovering over it we see the two teams battling against the pirates.

We could see Ren and Motoyasu bickering over what to do. Suddenly Naofumi jumps down.

"We don't have time for this."

Motoyasu and Myne start insulting Naofumi as I jump down to slash a monster that was about to attack him.

"Instead of working together yall three are doing whatever y'all want. We lose all the villages will die and so will you. Stop treating this as a game cause it's not."

His speech does nothing as the hero's continue fighting. "Raphtalia do light magic!"

She does causing a big light to emerge revealing the pirates shadow. Quickly I jump to attack it finally killing it. Seeing what I did Ren nods running to do the same thing to the other monster.

Soul eaters started appearing as Itsuki came up the ship.

"What do we do now?"

A big monster appears as all the hero shoot their most strongest attack to it.

Not even a scratch appears on it causing them to get mad. They charge to attack it but instead they get blasted as Naofumi runs in front of us to protect us.

"I'm going to have to use rage shield. I'm sorry." Naofumi tells Raphtalia as I stare at them. What was that?

Raphtalia smiled holding her hands to her heart. "I told you I would always be your sword, whatever you do I'll be there. Never forget it."

She added "I'll be here, by your side always" Naofumi nodded smiling.

My heart sunk watching them but I had no right to say anything. I'm the one who left him, I had no right. So why did it hurt so much?
