Matthew was practically crying as he ran over to the door of the shop and jumped into the arms of his brother, happy to see him again. "Hey!" He gave his brother a big pat on the back. "You really should have called! Dad and I have been so worried for you!" Matthew said as he turned around to look at a confused albino. "Oh! Gilbert this is my brother, Alfred! He's in the service!" Alfred gave a quick wave and Gilbert nodded, crossing his arms and looking over Alfred.

Matthew walked over and gave Gilbert a quick pat on the arm. "Oh! And this is Gilbert, he runs the tattoo shop next door! We've got.. something going. There's intimacy in it, that's all I'm sure of." Alfred let out a dramatic gag as he walked up to the counter.

"I don't wanna know that, Mattie!" Alfred whined. He had just gotten home and already his brother was being weird and nasty. He looked around the shop and nodded it looked just like he remembered it actually. "Where's dad?" Alfred asked, and Matthew frowned.

"You would know if you had been home..." Matthew gave Gilbert a pat on the shoulder. "Watch the shop for me? I'll only be a few minutes." Gilbert nodded and Matthew took Alfred's hand, leading him out of the shop. They went up the side stairs and up to the door. Matthew took a deep breath and pushed the door open with a smile. "Père! I have a surprise for you!" Matthew called. Francis rolled himself out of his bedroom with a smile on his face. Until he saw Alfred. The Frenchman's eyes went wide at the sight of his other son, quickly pushing himself over to the two young men.

"Alfred.." Francis stared up at his son and then smiled. "You've come home! Oh you have no idea how much you've missed! I'm sorry you had to come back to your father in a wheelchair! But I promise I'll be out of it real soon! Two years of physical therapy won't fail me now! But hey! Matthieu made sure that nasty man who hit me got what he deserved in the end!"

Alfred was speechless. He had been gone four years. Four years and his father was in a wheelchair. His brother ran the shop and was having a weird relationship with the guy next door. He couldn't help but feel really bad over going. He loved the military and being out in the world but if this was what would happen everytime he was away? Alfred wasn't sure he had the guts to do it.

Matthew noticed the dejection of his brother and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Al, don't beat yourself up over it. None of us knew it would happen. Besides, the shop doesn't get much business, it's super easy to run alone. I've even been thinking about hiring someone to help out with the shop." Alfred nodded slowly as he put his bag down and sat on the couch. Matthew sighed. "I'll be up at seven, dad, Al. Don't cause too much trouble."

Matthew ran back downstairs to his shop, and went back inside. Gilbert was peeking at some of the stuff behind the desk, and Matthew smirked. He reached up and wiggled his finger under the inside of the bell connected to the door, watching Gilbert jump in fright. "You act like you've done something wrong." Matthew joked as he walked over and gave Gilbert a small kiss. "Now go on. Go back to YOUR job so I can do MY job." Gilbert groaned dramatically but left anyway, and Matthew chuckled. Yeah, he enjoyed that company. But soon he felt a small pain in his chest as he remembered last night. Instinctively he sighed and wrapped his arms around himself. He couldn't afford mistakes right now. He had a disabled father. A flower shop. He didn't have time for anything like children, or a full time relationship.

The day went by slowly after that. Matthew was distracted and he couldn't stop thinking about how so many things could possibly go wrong. When his watch chimed it made Matthew jump in surprise. He turned off the alarm as he quickly stood up and walked out of the shop, shutting the doors and locking them before running upstairs and avoiding anything to distract him. He shut the door to the flat and walked in to see his brother and father enjoying a good meal and watching the television. When they noticed Matthew, Alfred jumped up. "Mattie! Good news! I'm staying to help you in the shop! I have enough experience from helping dad out until I left! And I know for sure you could use the help! And I'm sure you'd enjoy having an extra friend around!"
