As of the next morning, Matthew was feeling a bit better, and helped out a bit. Gilbert insisted on Matthew keeping himself comfortable and not working himself too hard, just in case. Matthew complained at first that he was perfectly fine and he didn't need too much rest, but soon took the advice when his ankles were bothering him. He would leave all the cooking to Gilbert, since he was a great cook, and Matthew would do small things like setting the table.
Matthew found tiny activities he could do while waiting for his ankle pain and swelling to subside, like fluffing up the couch pillows or refolding the blanket on the back of the couch over and over nervously. And once he could stand with less pain, Matthew helped clean up the kitchen or he watched Gilbert cook. From what he could see, it was a roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and a garden salad. All locally sourced materials too, which made Matthew pretty happy.
Gilbert took a quick break from cooking to explain to Matthew a few important things. "Please tell my brother we've known each other for five years and not four months.." he pleaded. "Oh and he has to bring his girlfriend since he promised she and him would visit me soon with some late birthday gifts. Don't be concerned, she's a lot older than she looks." Matthew nodded and messed with his hair. What if he said the wrong thing and Ludwig got mad? That wouldn't be good at all.
Matthew was nervous when it got around the time for Ludwig to get there, and he was feeling nauseous with anxiety. Gilbert assured him everything would go fine, going as far as to give him a pretty deep kiss, which Matthew gratefully returned. Soon that turned into making out, and then Matthew was on his back under his lover, breathy moaning escaping his lips. They hadn't done it for some time now, and nobody ever said now was the best moment, but neither could refuse. They sat there and went as deep as they could with their clothing on, Gilbert slowly sliding his hand down Matthew's pants.
Matthew jumped in fright when someone knocked on the door, catching his breath as he pulled Gilbert's hand out of his jeans and stood up, fixing his hair and straightening his glasses. Gilbert chuckled and walked over to the door, opening it to be greeted with his brother. Gilbert gave him a hug and chuckled. "Lud! Good to see you again, been a bit!" Gilbert pulled his brother inside and Matthew smiled at him, eyeing the small lady next to him. "Guys this is Mattie!" He said, wrapping an arm around Matthew's shoulder.
Ludwig reached out to shake Matthew's hand, and gave him a small smile. "Good to finally meet you, Matthew. I'm Ludwig, this is my girlfriend Erika."
The small blonde lady smiled and nodded. "Hi Matthew!" She said, and Matthew sort of felt a little nervous. These two seemed so nice and he sort of didn't want to tell them the truth. He had intended on going against Gilbert's request to lie, but now it seemed like a bad idea. They deserved to be at least satisfied with Gilbert.
Gilbert led everyone into the dining room and showed them to their seats. Matthew kept his hands down under the table so he could keep one on his belly, and not look too suspicious for the time being. Ludwig and Gilbert chatted about things on and off while Gilbert brought the food out, and Matthew learned a bit. Ludwig seemed to work at a financial aid company, and Erika was a nurse at a hospital in the city. They ate and talked about business, Matthew explaining his flower shop next door.
And soon, the question came up. Ludwig asked how long they had been seeing each other. Matthew put a hand on Gilbert's thigh. "Well, around a year now, right?" Gilbert looked surprised but nodded. "Yeah, what, the day after your shop anniversary? You came into my shop and invited me out to get lunch with you." Gilbert nodded with a smile. "We met when he moved in, I was.. eighteen? Or, almost eighteen. So I think I was seventeen when you moved in!" Gilbert smiled nervously and looked at Ludwig, then back to Matthew. "Oh but nothing went on back then! I didn't really even talk to him until last year! Never had the time! That was before my top surgery too so he wouldn't have been interested in me.."
