Parents Day

random POV
"Todays the day" David said in his usual cheery voice "CHRISTMASS" Nikki yelled with sparkles in her eyes, everyone was looking at her.

Time skip to everyones parents arriving

Everyones parents were now at the camp, well everyones except for yours and Max's, you both knew his parents weren't coming as he had told you about his home life, but you expected your parents to come you were looking around for their car or seeing if thy were here talking to other people but they weren't, you were about to walk over to David and Gwen to ask them to call your parents when you saw they reached you first, you looked up at them in confusion, you saw their faces it was filled with sadness "y/n we are very sorry to inform you that your parents got into a car crash on the way here and they're in the hospital, we don't know if they're going to live or not though" David said looking down at you..... you couldn't believe it you were getting excited to see your parents for the first time in what feels like years, you couldn't hold back you tears, within a few seconds tears were falling down your face onto the floor not stopping for a single second, you could feel your anxiety coming back slowly but quickly at the same time, you looked up to see Max standing in front of you you locked eyes, he put his arms out signaling for you to hug him, you immediately wrapped your arms around him your tears wetting his hoodie, you hugged him tighter not wanting him to leave.

Max POV
I don't usually like other people knowing i hugged someone by choice, i looked up and saw all the campers looking at us in shock, y/n then let go of me wiping her tears away but she was still crying she tried to cover her face with her hands in embarrassment but it wasn't working very well, i slowly took my hoodie of and gave it to her to put on (y/n gave Max back his extra hoodie after getting back to the camp) as soon as y/n put the hoodie on y/n and i looked around to see everyone walking out with Gwen, David and Cameron Campbell.

Your POV
I looked around and somehow Max was sitting on a seat looking relaxed even though not even a second ago he was right next to me "have fuuun" i heard him say to the other campers "oh no you don't" Mr.Campbell said picking Max up and placing him down next to Gwen and David "this parents' day needs to go off without a hitch, that means good times and happy families" he said pushing the three together as he said families "what?!" Max said looking shocked "until this one's actual parents get here, you three are gonna be the perfect nuclear family, GOT IT" mr.Campbell said, David had sparkles in his eyes and looked all excited whilst Max and Gwen looked worried. Mr.Campbell didn't see me so i was standing there in confusion not knowing what i was supposed to do since my parents weren't coming. "we're gonna have so much fun....family~" David said picking Max up and pulling him and Gwen into a tight hug, Gwen honestly couldn't care anymore whilst Max was filled with rage. David looked down at my confused face "since your parents won't be coming..." he said with a frown "you can be apart of our family too" he said going back to his smiling face and sparkles in his eyes.

Time skip to the family dinner

i was sitting next to Max looking down at my tray of food, Max  flung the last spoon of his mashed potato at the platypus and looked over at me "you gonna eat any of that?" he asked "no" i replied which he then swapped food trays and started flinging the mashed potato at people again, he flung some mashed potato at an old woman who i assumed was Prestons grandma, i turned around and saw Gwen looking down at Max with an angry face "damn it Max! Would you quit being such a shit today?" she said slightly raising her voice Max instantly turned around to face her "what are you gonna do "mum"? Send me to a summer camp where you don't have to deal with me?" Max yelled back "ooh, that is an ironclad comeback" she replied with. "Okay family, who's ready for dessert?" David said putting a piece of chocolate cake in front of Max and i, i gave Max my cake as i'm not hungry and i know how much he loves double dessert. After a while i realised i had zoned out and i looked over to Max to see him grabbing Gwen's last bit of cake and flinging it over at Neil's dad's sock puppet "for fucks sakes" Gwen yelled picking Max up by the hood and yelling "i wasn't done eating that" Max crossed his arms and spoke back saying "you didn't need the calories" Gwen dropped Max and looked down at herself offended, David bent down to Max's height "Max! you know you are really pushing my patience today, i have half a mind to tell your parents about this when they get here" he said looking mad "how are you not getting this! My parents don't care about shit like this! They are not. Coming. Ever!" Max said getting in David's face.

Time skip

random POV
You, Max, Gwen and David were standing back stage when Mr.Campbell walked over and started talking to David you didn't know what he was saying because you knew the four of you or maybe just Max, Gwen and David (since mr.Campbell didn't notice you before) had to go perform what Max came to camp for but you knew his parents didn't sign him up for anything, you were standing in the corner of the room watching David yelling at Max and Max on the verge of tears yo couldn't quite figure out what they were saying but you saw David look down at Max's enrolment paperwork and look back at him with a sad face you saw Max had said something and started walking over towards where you are, he pushed past you and sat down digging his face into his legs, you could tell he was crying so you sat next to him, put your arm around him and started to talk about after he told you what happened you pulled him into a hug, after you stopped hugging you both looked up and saw David and Gwen standing above you guys "let's all go and have pizza" Gwen said, Max got up and started following Gwen and David as they walked over to the car, you sat there because you thought they only meant Max, you watched them all walk away and then David turned around "you coming, y/n" he said turning around and walking towards you, "uh-yea I'm coming, go on ahead i'll be at the car soon" you said, he walked away you quickly wiped your tears away, they were tears of happiness though, the last time you went out with your family was years ago, yea sure they cared about you but they were hardly ever home and when they were it was too late to go out, you jumped up and ran over to the car hopping in next to Max.

At the pizza place

You were seated next to Max at the table as you were waiting Max asked David "why are we even here, what about Campbell's big show" "ehh, it's stupid" David said looking down at the ground "what?" Max said all confused "you were right. it's stupid. you shouldn't have to pretend for anyone" David said "are you...okay" Max said a little uncomfortable with the difference to how David usually acted "i'm...sorry Max. I try to always to see the good in things and i try to get others to see the same, but pretending like things are okay when they're not doesn't help anything. I'm sorry your parents don't care enough, Max. You have every right to be angry. But you deserve to be happy, and i hope you can find that here at camp, even if it's not today" David said still looking at the floor "but..David, i've found my happiness, even if i don't always act happy deep down i'm bouncing around with joy when i'm with..y/n" Max said mumbling your name but loud enough that David heard, you looked over at Max in shock but he just looked at you with a soft smile, just as you were about to say something Gwen came over "life sucks sometimes, but at least there's pizza" she said placing down a large pizza on the table, she sat down next to David, there was silence for a few seconds then "well, don't just look at it" Gwen said "eat up, ya little shits" she said with a smile on her face.

Your POV
After we finished the pizza we walked outside "i'll go get the car"Gwen said pulling the keys out "i'm coming too" i said following Gwen, we were just turning the corner when we saw Max and David, i felt something good was gonna happen so i grabbed Gwens phone and pointed it at the two boys, i quickly took a photo as Max hugged David, i told Gwen and we agreed not to tell Max about the photo. Gwen pulled up in front of them "you think everything went okay back at the camp" she asked David, which he replied with "oh, I'm sure it's nothing mr.Campbell couldn't handle."

That was a way longer chapter than any of the others, usually i only have about 700-900 words but this story was 1644 words.
