The young adolescent couple sat across from Grace looking at everything beside her. It was dead quiet as Grace had her legs crossed and arms folded with an empty stare directed towards them. Normally they would sit very close with another on the couch, but they created some distance between the two so his mother wouldn't be uncomfortable witnessing them so close, in their love bubble. Unbeknownst to Ms. James, these two were distant best friends, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Olivia averted her eyes to the side with her hands folded nicely in her lap. Spencer was spaced out staring up at the ceiling with his leg bouncing. Silence remained making the encounter more awkward than they wanted it to be. Grace smiled a little to herself, noticing how nervous she was making them but then decided to break the silence for all of them. She could tell they were nervous for the simple fact that they were sitting away from each other.
"Why are you two so far apart, son?" Grace asked with him looking up at her.
"No reason at all ma, it's just a lot of body heat in here and you know I hate sweating unless I'm working out or at practice"
"You mean you didn't work out anything last night?" Grace sat with a straight face and Olivia choked on her own saliva at her comment.
"You alright over their girl, can't have you dying in my presence"
Grace slightly smiled as Olivia continued to fake cough making it real covering her mouth while Spencer engaged in the charade patting her back roughly. Her head turned quickly darting her eyes at him reaching behind his back to snatch his hand off her.
"No no I'm fine Ms. James, my mouth is just kinda dry" She said while holding her throat.
"Hmm, well I know just the right cure for that, I'll be right back" Ms. James stood heading to the kitchen leaving them alone for a few minutes or less. Olivia's facial expression dropped when she left the room turning to Spencer slapping his arm.
"Ow!" He reacted grabbing his arm rubbing the sting.
"What the hell was that?!"
"What are you talking about?!"
"You were patting my back Spencer!!"
"Excuse me for trying to be a caring boyfriend I thought you were really choking" He shrugged motioning his hands up as she smiled before slapping the back of his head a little harder this time.
"OW! What the-you know what you got one more time to hit me girl!"
They whispered amongst each other while his mother was posted in the kitchen purposely not coming back so urgently so she could eavesdrop on their conversation that they thought she couldn't hear. My son thinks he's so good at whispering. She shook her head to herself as she took a mug from the cabinet then reaching for a water bottle in the fridge.
"It was a little love tap pipe down, what are we going to tell her?"
"Ion know you got any ideas?"
"Not really I was kinda hoping my boyfriend would know" Her eyes squinted.
"Ha well sorry to disappoint you babe but I'm just as lost as you are" He sighed deeply closing his eyes letting his head hit the back of the couch. Olivia sighed loudly just as equally frustrated as him.
"There's only one way we can spin this whole, staying overnight cuddled in bed half-naked situation"
"And that would be?"
"We tell her.... were together" Olivia concluded with Spencer shifting his brow.
"You really think she's gonna forget about you and I being locked in my room, in the same bed, half-naked when she wasn't here, just because she knows were together?"
