Like an earthquake, I shake. Underneath my skin, a million volts radiate; my body begins to tingle. Trying to hold my breath, I lose, gasping for air as it continues to leave my lungs. Although my mind races, there's not a single thought to be found. Not knowing what to do, I can feel myself begin to break.
Wet streaks fall down my face as I look away, I refuse to let you see me this way. Your arms pull me into you, into your warmth, into safety. The wall crumbles and the rivers begin to flow. "Shh", you whisper, "It's okay". I know it will be, but until then I just want you to hold me- and you do. You don't let go, not until you see me smile.
With a reassuring kiss, I feel the volts beginning to surrender.
This isn't the first time, and it won't be the last; you know this.
Yet... you love me still.
