FARIDA

The doctors wheel her to the theatre, properly clothed to perform the surgery. From Tobi's body language, I could see he is tense. What I really wish for is success after the surgery is performed. His tie is already loosened and I could see perspiration.

"Hey." I walk to where he is sat and take a seat beside him. He does not respond to me but I understand his plight.

It takes over 5 hours before the surgery is completed. We are at her ward now. Thankfully, the surgery was a success. It's now for her body to recover on its own. We are glad she is alive. The doctor says she would recover, most likely.

That same evening, I went to my house to pack up my bags. Tamara and Bukky were shocked when I told them I would be leaving for a while, considering the fact that they had not seen me last night and there was no time to discuss this morning. Everything has just been happening so fast.

"Take care of yourself o. Don't do anything naughty." Tamara winks her eyes at me, having a playful expression.

"Get out of here." My attempt to smack her on her leg fails as she dodges my hand by an inch.

"Sha, be careful. He is a fine man and need I remind you that he also happens to be your boss." Bukky's serious sides are kicking in.

"Yes, mummy." Nothing can happen. I know we have not even established any sort of friendship, talk more any other thing happening.

"Should we see you off?"

"Nah. It's okay. Thank you." After packing fully, my things are placed in the car and I head to my direction, of course with directive from the map because I have not even the slightest idea, how to get to his house.

Upon arriving at his house, the gatekeeper opens the gate as though my presence has been in anticipation.

"Good evening, ma." He quickly rushes to me the moment I am well parked and the gate has been closed.

"Good evening. Is your oga at home?" I ask him.

'Yes, ma. He dey inside." He goes ahead to collect the bag in my hand and I say a thank you in gratitude. I proceed to pick up my box from the car booth and he immediately rushes to me, wanting to also help me with it but I refuse. I can carry my bag myself.

"Ah, madam. Abeg, make I carry am o." He insists.

"No, don't worry."

"Let him help you with the bag." I hear Tobi's voice behind me. I could also hear the undertone mockery in his voice.

"Set awon feminists." He adds and my face turns into a frown. I choose to ignore it. This is the second time he is doing this. If I say anything, he'll just make me look stupid. So, there's no point.

"Good evening." My face is expressionless as I speak. Honestly, I am tired and just need a nice warm bath before resting.

"Evening, Farida. Please, come in." He states. The house actually does look nice and there are some flowers, sitting beautifully around different segments of the compound. Taking in a deep breath, my nostrils are hit with the sweet smell the atmosphere exudes. We are just few steps into the house when I feel a tap on my leg. Lo and behold, Seyi is behind me, smiling mischievously.

"Seyi." Tobi calls out. He does not know that she is right behind us. She places her index finger across her closed lips in an attempt to keep me quiet and not spill anything. My tiredness is forgotten as I'm holding myself and trying to control the serious outburst cooking up in my stomach.

"Seyi, come out. Your best friend is here." His tone sounds sarcastic when he says that. The little one behind us quietly creeps to him and frowns her face before punching him just behind his knee.
