𝐈𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 (besides high graduation rates and over advanced test scores of intellectuals), it was the ability of fast spread gossip. There was no surprise to either friend the second their new found kindled relationship would travel phone to phone the second Guzman looked Polo's way without sending him a look that radiated revenge. The news of Guzman's olive branch towards Polo came with the snap of a photo of the two boys in the locker room, all from an unknown number, not that anyone cared.Everyone had been more focused on the two boys hugging out when everyone expected the two ex-friends to be finished as a corpse feet underground. While some were thankful, merely a breath of fresh air for some normalcy to come together, there were the selected few who truly couldn't comprehend the sudden need for Guzman to bury the hatchet and seek amends with Polo. Sure, they were friends since childhood and had argued over everything and everyone over their youth but this was different.
Polo was a suspect and his victim had been his best friends' sister.
Guzman and Polo becoming friends again as if they could pick up completely where they left off was the last thing anyone saw coming. It was just as rare as the busboy and marchioness. The unheard of, unthinkable - yet at this rate anything was possible.
The photo chimed Charisma's phone just as she was adjusting her skirt and crawling off Valerio's lap. Both of their phones had vibrated at the same time but it was Chari who pried herself away to focus upon her phone. However, the second her eyes met the spammed photo, she wished she hadn't.
Valerio's lips were still attached to her neck, leaving soft nips along her collar bone as he helped her button her shirt up but instead of focusing upon the way his teeth felt against her flesh, all she could do was pry herself away with her eyes hypnotized upon her phone screen.
His curious eyes darted up and down Chari's face as he watched her flushed face contort of anger and disbelief. Charisma's swollen lips were parted, brows cowered down, while her blue eyes were bold and drawn. He could feel her relaxed body suddenly tense, her jaw becoming harsh as if she were grinding her teeth, and her facial expressions verified that she was no longer interested in Valerio but upon her phone.
He leaned over her lip, reaching to pry her phone from her hand but instead she locked her phone and tossed it in her purse. Charisma's face was stoic, her attention remaining straight out the dashboard window and upon the school yard.
"Chari," Valerio said, his fingers returning to his own shirt as he buttoned them up. His hand reached out for her once more, stopping upon her bare knee and hitching upward as he leaned towards her brushing his lips at the bottom of her lobe. Valerio's lips upon her sweet spot pulled Charisma from her thoughts but instead of giving into his soft act of seduction, her entire body felt hot (and not in the intimate way he was trying to heat). Her head tilted to his and she forced a tight lipped smile while reaching to his face. Her left hand cupped his hollow cheek and she quickly pressed her lips to his before using her free hand to pry the door open and exit his car with a harsh slam of the door.
Valerio blinked, his own wits taken back by Charisma's sudden disconnection. His hands went to his pants, his fingers fumbling with his zipper while he watched Charisma adjust her skirt as she hurriedly stalked up to campus. He didn't know what lulled her from their tether but he knew it wasn't his fault nor had anything to do with him... at least he hoped. When he wanted to be, Valerio was cocky and arrogant. He knew he was attractive and he knew his personality drew everyone to him. He was well loved-liked.
Still, hot and cold wasn't a rarity for him. He was used to it with Lu, her sudden bursts of desire only to be cooled as if she wanted absolutely nothing to do with him; but when it came to Chari, he didn't like the reminder that once again, he had someone but not completely in the way he wanted.
The playboy didn't have much in life, especially now, and all Valerio wanted was to be happy, feel and be unconditionally in love and have the same given in return. All his life, Valerio had settled and as always, he found himself settling for temporary happiness because there was something pulling Chari away. Just as something... his father had pulled Lu from him.
His cellphone dinged in his pocket and he shoved his hand inside, gripping his phone. Tapping on the mass message, his eyes widened and jaw slacked as the image appeared. It suddenly had made sense as to why Chari gave him the cold shoulder and left without a second glance. He could care less that Polo and Guzman were rekindling their friendship (at least to what the message conveyed). He knew Polo wanted his best friend back and he was happy for him but Valerio knew that in Charisma's mind there was a deeper meaning to this photo.
Guzman was accepting Polo back into his life and only time was going to tell if the youngest Villada was on the list of reinstated friendships too. It only made Valerio worry that he was nearly on the brink of losing another girl to Guzman Nunier.
