"Come in! It isn't cold, or deep!" the young boy shouted to his brother. "Even the girls did it!"

"I don't like it. It's dark and I can't see the bottom." the younger of the two called back.

"Nothing's going to get you, I'm right here!" the elder called.

"How do you know?" he called back from the shore.

"Because I'm your brother, I'm not going to let anything get you Reg." Sirius said.

"Master Regulus?" Came the voice of Kreacher.

"Hm?" Regulus said.

"Are you quite alright Master?" the elf asked cautiously.

Water crashed against the rock the two stood on, causing the man to flinch harshly.

"We can go back?" Kreacher reminded him.

"No. No we cannot." Regulus said.

"It is a burden that we all must carry." Rabastian said. "It's our duty to The Dark Lord."

"The diary is safely locked away." Lucius said, reclining in his chair. Myself and my wife know its location if something... unfortunate should happen."

"I still do not understand why we should not have been consulted on this." Bellatrix hissed.

"Your irrationality perhaps?" Barty jeered. "Your unpredictability?"

"My wife is far too valuable to The Dark Lord to be concerned about objects. She has more important tasks to tend to." Rodolphus said coldly. "Unlike yourself Barty, how's your father? Since you busy yourself so much with his business."

Bellatrix laughed cruelty and her husband smirked.

"Enough of these petty remarks." Snape declared.

"You find us so insufferable Severus?" Rabastian purred.

"You've been awfully quiet Regulus." Bellatrix said suddenly. All eyes turned to the thin, pale boy beside Snape.

"I have nothing of value to add, cousin." he said.

She hissed. "Nothing to add about the safety of the Dark Lord?"

"Not at present," he said.

"Were you not tasked with the protection of one such object?" Lucius asked.

"Yes." Regulus said.

"And?" he pressed.

"It is protected," he remarked.

"Nothing more?" Lucius finished.
