(later that day)

Zara's POV

I reached home nearly around 7 pm. As soon as I entered the electricity power got cut off. 

"Oh god! I must have not payed the bill" Mom sighed. 

I checked my pocket and found $50. This must be enough for it. 

I went and paid the bill. And soon the power was supplied.

I was passing through mom and Father's room and saw him with some chick. Oh no! 

"Who is she? And what is she doing here?" I said with anger dripping from my tongue. 

"It's none of your business, you slut! Shut your god damn mouth and get lost!!" He spat. 

"Honey, why are you talking to her like that? I'm his girlfriend and I'm sorry if I'm disturbing you guys. We'll leave now" She spoke very sweetly and she loves a bastard like him?! Bless her. 

"You just keep quiet! You can't tell me what to do!!" He bellowed at her. Mom and Ash soon came there. He started throwing things at everyone. I bet anything that he's a psycho. That woman was scared and she called police. 

"Father, stop it! Stop it for God's sake!" I shout at him. 

"Shut up! Don't speak to me like that!!" He spoke as he came awfully close to me. I started backing away and he kept nearing until my back hit the wall. 

"You're mine!" He said with a dangerously low voice. God! Please save me! 

Before he could anything, the cops arrived. They arrested him. 

"One of you will have to give a statement against him tomorrow. Be there by 9 am. Thank you" one of them said. They were taking him away. Finally! Finally we're free of him!

But before leaving father shouted at me, "You're mine! Remember that! You're my slave and I'll get you one day" he left with smirk spread across his face. 

"Finally, he's gone!" I sighed in relief. 

"I'm sorry. I should have known how he is! I'm extremely sorry-" the woman spoke but Ash cut him off

"It's alright. Not your fault that he's a piece of shit"

"I'm sorry for y'all. You have face his nuisance everyday" She said and with that she left. 

"Let's have dinner children! But you'll have to eat the frozen food.." She said smiling weakly. 

I know, even though father abused us, she loves him. She's always loved him. I don't know what happened to him after Ash took birth. Before that he was very sweet and loving towards us. I still remember going to park with him everyday and we used to get ice cream while returning. At that time we had enough money to live. He used to read me bed time stories. He took mom to honeymoon thrice! And in their first one they conceived me. I always used to walk in on them whenever they used to kiss. We celebrated all the occasions together. We were a happy normal family.. 

But all of it changed when Ash took birth. He was diagnosed of epilepsy. And father started being very distant with us. He used to come home late night and leave early morning. He started drinking and gradually got addicted to some drugs. And he spent all of his salary in drugs and drinking. And now the rest of the story you must have already understood. 

"Sis? Sissy? Zara!" Ash's voice broke my thoughts. 

"Yea- yeah! What's up?" I said.
