Zara's POV (After a lonnng time, right?)

Life is amazing, isn't it? Note the sarcasm. Not even weeks ago I caught my oh so lovely boyfriend cheating on me and here I am, scrolling down Instagram to find his pictures with her. They are now an official couple, just great. Wow. Fantastic.

"Hey Zara- I'd suggest to stop going through Instagram right away" Jonah said, draping an arm over my shoulder as he sat down beside.

He tried to snatch my phone but I quickly pulled away, "Why? And why do you look as though you've seen a ghost? Is there any new disease discovered?"

"No, not that... You wouldn't like it though.."

"Are you gonna tell me or should I go through it by myself?" I scrolled through my feed and came across Corbyn's new post. I read the comments section.

Most of them didn't like the idea of them being together but then I came across a very unexpected comment.

A fan wrote, 'Oh finally you chose someone worthy. That excuse of a girl was a literal slut, if you ask me. You deserved someone better than that scumbag. Love the new couple <3'

Someone replied to this with, 'I agree. That Zora or whatever her name was, she deserves to die.'

And then there was the new hashtag trending, '#KillYourselfZara'

Tears formed in my eyes, "Are they right?" I whispered to myself but Jonah heard.

"Don't you ever dare say that again. Those people are wrong. You are the one who deserves someone far better than Corbyn. You're way out of his league, Zara. You are much much much better than what you're thinking of yourself right now"

"But people are hating me, Jonah. They have death wishes for me. No one does that without a reason-"

"Shut up. Those people who posted such crude comments know nothing about you. They know nothing about what you've been through. They don't know how strong and beautiful and kind and brave and cool and did I mention beautiful? They have boring lives so they just comment on others without giving it a thought. Don't forget, he was the one who cheated on you" He hugged her tightly.

I didn't know that someone could list out so many qualities of mine. Jonah had been so sweet to me for the past few weeks. I had been staying with mom and Ash again in the new apartment. Jonah kept visiting us regularly.

I looked up at him, his icy blue orbs captivating my brown ones. I don't know what had gotten into me but I leaned up and pressed my lips to his. He kissed me back and damn, was it so amazing! I tried to deepen the kiss but he pulled away.

"This is not right, you are not over him yet. This is so wrong-"

"Yet it feels so right.. Isn't this what you want?"

"Of course I do. But.."

"But what, Jonah? Don't the two us deserve someone who cares about us the way we do?" He silently nodded. I didn't try again, waiting for him to react some way. But after a few moments of silence he cupped my face and attached his lips to mine.

It was sweet and soft. His lips were so plum and gentle on mine. I never had someone kiss me like this before. After a good few seconds, we pulled away. Our faces we closed to each other, lips almost touching.

"You can't even imagine how long I've waited to do this" He whispered. I smiled.

"You're amazing Jonah" I whispered back. He chuckled making me smile more.

"Do you mind if we-"

"Take it slow?" He asked making me nod shyly, "Sure. We'll take it slow. Let the future unfold itself and see what's in there for us?"

"I'd like that" I smiled. He pecked my lips again.

"Okay cool. I think I should leave. You have an exam coming up soon" He bade me bye and left.

My phone dinged.

"Please come to the hospital. We have an huge amount of emergency patient coming up" It was from Dr. Andrews. Damn it. I need to go.

"Mom, I need to go. Hospital emergency" and with that I left for the hospital.

(Time skip)

"Oh thank God you came. I want you to accompany Dr. Stevenson to the patient in ICU 285. It's a critical case" I nodded and hurried after Dr. Stevenson.

"Dr. Satterlee, I want you to be your best today. These patients were a victim of a road accident. Triple hits. All the passengers are severely injured." We walked out of the elevator and reached ICU 285. And he started our introduction,

"Ms. Collins, we're your doctors. Myself, Dr. Stevenson and this is Dr. Satterlee"

Ms. Collins just nodded and he continued.

Zara, I want you to examine Ms. Collins and study the tests' reports followed by a detailed case history, get that?" He handed me the reports.

"Yes, doctor" I nodded rapidly and got to work. He left to check on the other patients.

"How are you feeling, Ms. Collins?" She looked at me as though I spoke something very offensive.

"Right. Wrong question. My apologies. What are your complaints at the-"

"My head hurts like hell and as you can see-" She point to the thin rod that stuck at her abdomen, "-this, is causing a lot of discomfort and.." She frowned her eyebrows, "I can't feel the pain in abdomen anymore.. Why can't I feel the pain?"

Oh no that's not okay, "Would you be able to turn on to your side. I need to examine that"

She turned and I got a better view of her... well, the rod and it was stuck at her side right between the end of the ribs and above the axis of navel.

I gently pressed the area around it, "Can you feel anything?"

"No"

I tried a different angle but no luck. I looked through the scans.

"I'm sorry to say this but you need an immediate surgery to get the rod removed"

That's when Dr. Stevenson walked in.

"What did you find?"

"The rod penetration has obviously caused peripheral neuropathy but to check what more damage is there we need to first surgically remove this rod"

"How would you know that she might have peripheral neuropathy?"

"Easy. She can't feel the area around the rod and possibly the whole abdomen"

"Okay. Nurse!" A nurse walked in, "Prep OR for surgery" She nodded and rushed out.
