"You guys are in big trouble"

The powerful girl stood before the group of Hunters, anger radiating off her.

"Who are you?" Killua piped up, he, unlike the rest of the group, seemed unimpressed with the feat the fire-haired girl pulled off.

"I am Rin Takanashi, Flame Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. You aren't supposed to be in this area." Rin stiffened, almost seeming like she was reciting a script.

"What do you mean?" Leorio started towards the girl, seemingly unfazed by her great energy, "We're Hunters, we get access to places like these. Maybe you should do some reading on that honey."

Leorio had reached a hand for her shoulder, but, almost instantly she evaded, wrenching his wrist hard and flipping him to the ground, face up.

"Did you not read one of the 50 signs I have posted around the border of this place?" She yelled, closing her visible eye, "We're you not fazed by the rope connecting the signs? Hunters and regular citizens aren't allowed past this point! You risk losing your licenses!"

Everyone-even Killua- was nervous at this point.

"You broke the only law you have to follow as Hunters!" Rin continued, facig away from the group, making an effort to hide her face, "Didn't you pay attention at the orientation when you received your licenses? Even going into a marked demons territory can get it revoked! Do you know how much paperwork you're going to cause me?"

"Listen, we're sorry, we didn't know—" Kurapika began

"How could you have not known!" His comment making Rin's fury worse, "The Law is written on your Hunter Identification!"

The group hesitantly pulled their licenses out and turned them to the back where there was some text. None of them thought to read it of course, and the orientation was interrupted by Gon challenging Illumi.

Sure enough the text read

All Hunters are forbidden from unauthorized involvement with demons or the Demon Slayer Corps. This includes fighting demons, attacking demons, entering restricted areas, and illegally learning Demon Slayer fighting techniques. Violation will leave the offender at the mercy of the Demon Slayer Corps with risk of getting their license revoked.

"This is crazy" Leorio huffed, "Why restrict us from one creature? The Hunters license is supposed to be the most powerful document in the world!"

Rin did a double take. Was the Hunter Association serious? Was this how they were advertising their phony exam? The longer she sat on this, the funnier it became. How could seemingly strong Hunters (at least they seemed strong, they had managed to get away unscathed, something previous Hunters had tried and failed to do) fall for such an obvious marketing gimmick?

This caused a burst of laughter from Rin.
"You think—" Rin was having trouble getting words out, these people can't have been that moronic, "You thought— You thought the Hunters license was the most powerful in the world?"

The group exchanged eye contact before muttering some dejected agreements.

"Pffft." Rin put a hand up to try to hide her laughter, "Were you all so foolish that you fell for a simple marketing spiel?"

"Marketing?" Melody questioned

Rin was crying by this point.

"Did none of you do basic research? The Hunters exam is one of the most powerful identification in the world, topped by a Demon Slayer ID."

Rin stopped laughing and wiped away the tear at the corners of her eyes.

"Phew," She sighed, getting the last few chuckles out, "Your kind hadn't made me laugh like that... ever, I think. Good jokes aside," Her demeanor changed back to serious, "You will still have to stand trial by Hashira for breaking our most sacred law."

"It was an honest mistake!" Kurapika started, not liking that this person had not only challenged his intelligence, but was seemingly making fun of him, "You seriously aren't going to punish all of us for misreading a covered sign!"

"The sign was covered?" Rin tilted her head, "I'll get Kamado to take care of that. Either way, if you couldn't read that sign, there would have been another one less than forty feet from you, you could've read that one. Or you could've taken the ropes off area as a sign to not enter."

The group hung their heads.

"However," The girl began again stepping over Leorio and towards the group, "Don't worry too much about this trial, if it really was an 'honest mistake' then you should have no problem getting off with a minor punishment."

Gon went to help Leorio up

"Well degenerates!" Rin clapped her hands together with a closed-eye smile, "Let's get you out of here!"

~~

They had been walking for what seemed like forever.

"Almost there!" Rin said for the third time this hour

"About how far?" Leorio asked, annoyed

Rin just kept walking, humming an unknown tune.

"Food?"

A high pitched voice came from above them. Rin's head shot up

"Feast!"

A winged creature dived down at Alluka, Rin stepping between them, brandishing her sword.

"Fight." The winged creature spoke with a disembodied voice.

It looked like a bird with no feathers and a human skull for a face. It lunged at Rin.

"Scorching Rising Sun!"

A circle of flame erupted from the blade of the flaming red sword severing the creatures head, it's flight stopped.

Rin did the same ritual upon this one as well.

"What was that?!" Leorio said

"That, along with the other creature you met was a demon." Rin began solemnly, "These ones has already completely lost their humanity."

"Humanity?" Melody questioned.

"I'll explain later. Let's continue."
