Still in the past: Rin and Obito's death

Melanie's P.O.V

It's been a year since I've gotten beat up by those girls. Now we have different squads. Me, Kakashi, Rin, and Obito are all on the same team. Our sensei, Minoto sensei, has been helping us train for the jounin exams. We all are a team, that will never bring us apart.

Kakashi's P.O.V

Melanie is on my team, as well as Rin and Obito. I'm still going to protect Melanie, no matter what happens. Same for Rin and Obito, they're my friends I need to protect them too. Melanie, is more than a friend.

Third person P.O.V

~time skip... After jounin exams~

Melanie and Kakashi were the only ones that came back in their team.
After the jounin exams, their was a funeral for Rin and Obito.

Kakashi's P.O.V

At the funeral, Melanie came with me. I couldn't protect them, I thought to myself, feeling a stream of tears come down my cheeks. I couldn't help them! Not even save them! I thought to myself, I looked over at Melanie and she was crying too. I could tell she was feeling the same pain as me. I hugged her, I felt her body tense up a little. She then hugged me back, still crying.

Melanie's P.O.V

I was crying, I couldn't help them. Am I that weak?! I could've done something and this would have never have happened! Its my fault! I thought to myself crying harder. I felt Kakashi wrap his arms around me tightly. I felt myself tense up a little but, I hugged back afterwords.
After the funeral, Kakashi was quieter and more distant. Minoto sensei went easy on us now, I noticed Kakashi being off guard lately too. We walked home together but, he wouldn't say anything except "Bye. Good night." Then he would walk in his house before I could say anything. We became more distant and we barley talked to each other.
