"Kao."
"He's dating Pete."
"Fai?"
"Too carefree."
"Sandy?"
"Too peevish."
"Bright?"
"Who would date you?"
"Ohooooo Arthit! Do you want me to recite all the student's names in this university!? Stop being picky and just choose someone to date!" Bright whines with his hands holding his hair while the shorter male just sighed. Eyes looking around to find someone he can seek help from but then sighing again when he couldn't.
"I'm not going to date them. I just need someone to act like we're dating." Arthit corrects his friend, his hand playing on his cup of pinkmilk. Feeling tired himself, Arthit curses as he recalled the events the other night when his mother asked him to talk inside her office again.
Flashback
"No!" the young man exclaims the moment he hears the same three syllable phrase his mother has been telling him for a month. Frustrated, Arthit washes his face with dry hands before looking back at the woman he thought understood him the most. He loves his mother but ever since she's been pressuring her to 'date Namtan' he just couldn't stomach it in well. Yes, he used to have a little crush on Namtan in high school and were good friends, but the fact that he knows his friend Jay was going out with Namtan, and though it was hidden, he couldn't be wicked enough to try hitting on his own friend's lover right?
"Arthit. You are graduating in a few months, you know that it's tradition in our family that before you graduate and be announced as the company's heir, you have to present a partner to our family. I'm trying to help you here son, or would you rather have your father choose for you?" Arthit grimaces upon the mention of his father. "Son, you are the heir of our family's company. I understand your place, but honey, in order to survive in that horrible world out there, you're gonna need someone to lean on to." Mrs. Ronajpat continues all while Arthit stared at his feet, until an idea popped in his head.
"So you mean I just need someone to present to you guys? Then, you won't bother me anymore?"
"Yes..." the middle aged woman continued to speak but Arthit's head has already went to its own place after hearing the confirmation from his mother. If he can present someone to his family, that means, they wouldn't pester him about finding a partner anymore, right? 'The easiest way out now is to find someone to act as my lover.' he says to himself, mentally patting his own shoulder for being able to think of such a plan.
"Arthit!" his mother exclaims, snapping Arthit out of his internal celebration.
"Yes mae?"
"Did you understand what I said?"
"Pfff, of course. And you know, you no longer need to worry about me. Because, I'm already dating someone." Arthit speaks, feeling his voice almost cracking at the mention of him 'dating'. Mrs. Ronajpat squints her eyes, scrutinizing her son well before asking. "Really?"
Arthit smiles and nods confidently, fingers crossed behind his back.
"Okay." Mrs. Ronajpat finally speaks. Letting Arthit let go of the breathe he didn't know he was holding. "But, if I ever find out you are lying to me young man, I swear to god-"
