We walk through the park, hand in hand, looking at all the people bustling around. They are either in a rush, not enjoying the simplicity of life, or just like us, taking in the wonders of human art and the world.

"When's your birthday?" I ask, my breath turning into a hazy fog from the cold air.

"January 23rd. Why?"

"Just so I can remember, 'cause then we can celebrate it," I say, swinging our hands back and forth. "That's in about a month, right?"

"It is in exactly a month, it's December 23rd today," she says, bringing our intertwined hands up to her lips before kissing mine softly and drifting them back down to our sides.

"Really?" I ask out of surprise, and she nods in response, "Good thing I did Christmas shopping earlier this month for you."

"No, you didn't," she whines.

"What?"

"Why did you get me something?"

"Because it's Christmas," I say, "everyone should have a gift."

She just huffs and looks away into the grass.

"Oh come now, you're not mad at me are you?" I say, turning her chin so she looks at me, "you're are going to accept your present, because I worked hard on getting it right. At least I think I did."

"I was going to accept it anyway, because I knew you'd make a fuss," she says, laying her head on my shoulder as we walked.

"Good," I say, and place a small kiss on the top of her head.

"Can we sit down? My feet are getting a little tired."

I agree and find the nearest bench to sit down on.

"Are you okay? You seen to get tired out a lot quicker nowadays," I say, leaning my head on her jacket covered shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she says shortly, and if I'm right, a little sadly, too.

But I ignore it.

"Alright, as long as you say you're okay," and peck her forehead with a kiss before settling down back on her shoulder.

What I didn't notice was the small frown plastered on her face afterwards.
