The bell rings, signalling for all the students to go home after a long, hard school day. Usually, that would mean I'm done working for the day, but not today. Today, I need to go to Clay's house to organise the conjoined lesson. I check my watch and it reads '15:42' which translates to 3:42pm, meaning I have about 1 hour and a quarter until I need to go to Clay's house.
I scurry into the parking lot and unlock my car. I climb into my seat and push my keys into the locket. The car makes a loud nose as the engine powers on.
I drive home and put the radio on. The song 'jealousy, jealousy' by Olivia Rodrigo. I like it. I hum along to the tune as I drive, carefully.
When I pull up to my house, I check my watch as I'm walking up to my porch. My watch reads '15:58' meaning it's nearly 4pm. I have about an hour until I have to head over to Clay's house. I know I'm early, but I decide to text him and ask him for the address.
Me
Hey Clay. It's me, George Davidson. Just wondering what your address is?I type as I anxiously press send. I wait for a reply, not taking my eyes of my phone screen. I close the door and lock it without looking,
A big wave of nerves wash over my body as I read Clay's reply.
Clay
Hey George. I'm really sorry, something came up at my house. But maybe we could go your house instead? I can come now if you'd like.Oh my gosh. He wants to come to my house now? I suppose that's not a bad idea. I begin typing a reply, my fingers leading the way.
Me
Sure. My address is xxx-xxxxx-xxx, feel free to come over whenever. Probably ASAP so we can get this project over and done with.I press send and then take a deep breath. I turn my phone off and shove it in my pocket. I then stroll into my kitchen and open up the fridge. I see a frozen burger which needs to be in the microwave for 1 minute. I decide to do so and while I wait for it to cook, I check my phone again. I see that I've gotten a message from Clay.
Clay
Okay. I'm on my way over now.WHAT? Did I read that correctly? He's coming over NOW? But what about my burger? Well. Whatever. I take my burger out my microwave and put it back in the freezer. It's fine. I wasn't hungry anyway.
I give my house a little sweep around and make sure it's as clean as possible in such a short amount of time. I make two coffees for me and Clay. I have no idea how much sugar or milk he wants so I just match it with mine.
And before I know it, the doorbell goes off. Let's see how this is going to go...
