A/n: Bruh this is random but I have two themes that I associate with Bernard and Carbon. Like I don't even know why I just one day went 'yep those are their songs' and I just. I don't know here they are.

Bernard's song:

Carbon's song:

Once again I have no clue why I made these connections I just did now enjoy the story you dingdongs.

From that moment forward, things began to get a little awkward between the two Arch elves. Not in such a noticeable way for them, but it was certainly noticed by their friends and underlings who spent time around them. It made any food gatherings slightly more tense, for the fact that Carbon and Bernard would remain silent for the most part while everyone else conversed as usual. They figured it must've had something to do with the spoon-feeding ordeal of the night before, but figured it best not to question it since it wasn't their place.

As per usual, they went about their day training the other elves, nothing special. Though as the day went on, the others in the team would notice subtle, almost casual affectionate gestures between Carbon and Bernard.

When Kafka and Penelope marched their soldiers past ground that their Lieutenants were training on, in the obstacle course, Kafka noticed that as they were giving a demonstration, Carbon almost lost her balance and Bernard placed his hand on the small of her back to steady her once again.

When they ate lunch together, everyone noticed the glances Carbon and Bernard threw at each other, as well as subtle, awkward sweet smiles, quickly because they thought if they did that then no one would notice.

When they returned to training their soldiers, Roulette and Ocean were training on the field beside the obstacle course, and the two of them couldn't help but notice how Carbon caught Bernard's beret on another demonstration and placed it back on his head, fixing it up all to affectionately as they smiled at each other.

And this went on for an entire week before anyone actually said anything.

"Lieutenant Evergreen."

Bernard turned when he heard his name being called at breakfast, finding that it was Doom with an envelope in her hands.

"It's Krampus, he's written a reply to your letter," she explained, handing the envelope to Bernard.
"Thank you, Doom. I appreciate your service," Bernard nodded solemnly as Doom bowed slightly with a smile and went on her way.

While everyone else continued with their breakfast, Bernard unfolded the envelope at the table, pulling the letter out of it's casing and then unfolding that before reading on.

Dear Bernard Evergreen,

Arch Elf to the Santa Clause Scott Calvin,

I thank you for telling me of my second in command's actions. It is disappointing and devastating news, especially since I was under the impression that he still cared for my Arch Elf.
