AMELIA
After Asher left for his meeting, I changed into my swimwear and took the novel, I had brought just in case, with me to the beach. I spent the entire day there, lying on the folding chair, letting my skin tan a little.
It was six when Asher called me and told me that I should get ready for a party. I made my way back to the house and took a long bath, using all the bathing products until I was smelling like flowers.
Wearing the oh-so soft bathrobe, I came out and dried my hair clean. I decided to put on the dress at the end so my clumsy self won't end up spilling anything on it.
I completed my makeup first. The party was definitely going to be all fancy-shancy so I used all the makeup skills I had. I even used a red lipstick that I never wore usually because it didn't suit my face. For hair, I just used a straightener and some hair spray.
Once I was done, I slipped into the stunning royal blue dress. It was a plain silk evening gown that reached the floor. It's thin spaghetti straps supported the low neckline but the fitting of the dress was absolutely perfect. Even though it hugged me like a glove, my stomach didn't at all feel flabby like it should, in such tight dresses.
I smiled in amusement when I ran my hands along my curves, the fabric of the dress feeling amazing against my touch. I bent down to wear the shiny silver, five-inch high killer heels when I heard the sound of heavy footsteps, probably of my husband. Excitement filled me on anticipating Asher's reaction. I swept all my hair to one shoulder and then stood silently until he opened the door and walked inside the room.
He stopped when he saw me and an expected wave of surprise filled his always serious face. His eyes travelled down my body, stopping at certain places, making me feel warm and excited.
"Can I ask how I look?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and barely controlling my giggle.
"You...umm," he took a pause. "You look.... Like you need some jewellery to go with this dress." he said and my eyebrows dipped on the unexpected answer.
I slid my hand into my handbag and took my first step towards the bed when the strap of the bag got caught in between my legs. Wobbling, I held myself up with the help of the wall and bed, while my bag fell down on the floor, all its contents spread around.
Asher let out a small gasp slash chuckle as his eyes fixated on the floor. I followed his gaze and watched my black lace lingerie, which Rufina had persisted me to buy, lying against the floor. Burning red in embarrassment, I stooped down and hurriedly threw it back in the bag, all the while feeling Asher's amused stare at me.
When I finally met his eyes, I had to bite my lips to stop myself from saying something embarrassing. He looked down at me smugly, probably judging me for keeping a lingerie in my bag, despite aware of the fact that it won't be used. Sweat drops appeared on my forehead and I fanned myself, after walking past him to the bed.
Then I went towards my suitcase and took out the diamond necklace, Rufina had been kind enough to lend me. Talking of Rufina, I made a mental note of telling her about the lingerie scene that just happened. Asher eyed me once more after I wore the neckline and then left the room.
The driver stopped the car in front of a mansion after an hour of drive. The mansion, illuminated by hundreds of lights, was visible from the end of the road. There was a huge crowd in front of the house that elevated my social anxiety a little.
The driver opened the door for me and I gripped my dress before stepping out. Asher reached forward towards me and then placed his arm on my waist, his warmth seeping through the thin fabric of the dress.
