Anniversary

Date: April 23rd

You opened your eyes softly, sitting up from the ground, stretching your back as it cracked. You got up looking for Sanemi but he was nowhere to be found. You sat on the couch staring blankly at the tv when you heard the door open and turned around to see Sanemi walking in with grocery bags. You tried to help him but he pulled away a little looking at you.

"I got it," Sanemi said. "Come on, let me help," you said, smiling, but Sanemi refused. "I said I got it, y/n," he said, and you got the memo to back off.

You sat on the couch as Sanemi put the groceries away, you scrolled through your phone looking at pictures of Mitsuri and Iguro on Instagram, Which they appeared to be happy, and you couldn't help but envy them.

"Take a look," Sanemi said. You turned off your phone and looked up to see Sanemi kneeling on the floor with a ring box in his hand. The ring itself was stunning. You looked at him, taken aback this was not happening. "What are you doing?" you asked as you stood up.

"It's a gift, our anniversary gift, it's a promise ring, it's a promise to love you forever," Sanemi said, taking your right hand and placing the ring on your ring finger. You looked around confused, not knowing what to do, and you hadn't even realized it was your guys' anniversary.

Sanemi smiled as he stood up and hugged you, but you didn't return the hug because it didn't feel right. "Get ready, I have a special day planned for us," Sanemi said as he pulled away from the hug.

Sanemi wanted to make you happy and he thought maybe this was the way he was holding onto the old life you guys had together just like and he didn't want to let go there was still much more he wanted to do in his life with you but he was gradually falling out of love with you and he wondered if you felt the same way.

You gave Sanemi a fake smile as you walked into the room, picking out an outfit, going to the bathroom, and getting in the shower, letting the hot water hit your body, you closed your eyes, and suddenly imagined Rengoku in the shower with you, his hands on you.

You opened your eyes quickly and smiled to yourself at the thought of Rengoku in the shower with you.

You kept showering until you got out and changed into the simple blue and white floral milkmaid dress you chose because the weather was getting nicer as the hotter months approached.

You walked out of the bathroom to find Sanemi dressed in a black long t-shirt, khakis, black loafers, a black belt, and his silver Cuban link bracelet. He looked handsome, but you thought of it in a friendly way.

"Are you prepared to go?" Sanemi inquired.

"Almost," you said as you returned to your room and began applying makeup. You then brushed your hair and dashed to the living room to put on your white worn-out shoes.

"OK, I'm ready," you said as you grabbed your purse. Sanemi smiled and then took your hand, which felt strange. You guys left your apartment complex and decided to walk instead of driving. You guys walked down the streets, which was nice and peaceful.

Sanemi took you to a seafood restaurant that was a buffet where you ate a lot of oysters and drank beer. You and Sanemi talked a lot, which felt nice, and you've never been happier with your relationship with him until now.

You and Sanemi did a lot of things throughout the day; you went go-karting, stopped by local shops, and played in an arcade; you were having a great time, but all you could think of him was as a friend, which made you sad but also happy; you finally accepted him as just a friend.

As the day came to an end, you and Sanemi boarded the Ferris wheel. You looked at Sanemi as he looked out the window and felt a little sad because you reminisced of the history you two shared which was finally coming to an end.
