"Did you check out Mitsuri's Instagram story?" Shinobu questioned as you sipped your pineapple strawberry mimosa.

"Yeah, I did, she looked so beautiful in her beret, I can't believe she and Iguro are in Paris right now," you said, delighted for her.

"We need to go somewhere y/n I mean it," Shinobu said, grabbing your hand as she daydreamed about what her life could be like. Shinobu was never the type to settle down; she thrived on the prospect of adventure and freedom.

You made a happy face. "We could go wherever you want in the world, Shinobu, that's a promise." Shinobu smiled, but it was a deceptive smile; she had a habit of pretending you were someone she cared about but ended up losing.

"Mhm, I have to get going, I have work," you said as you stood up from your seat, and Shinobu immediately followed you.

You paid the food bill and grabbed some of the pastel macaroons on display before leaving.

Shinobu drove you to work, and she was quiet the entire ride; she seemed tense. There were days like these when she seemed to be lost in her own overthinking, and you never bothered her during these times because she never liked it; she was never the type to talk about her feelings.

When you arrived at the company, you got out of the car and thanked Shinobu for the ride and brunch, and she smiled and drove away.

You were walking up to the entrance, munching on your macaroons, when you felt a hair in your mouth. You opened your mouth and tried to find the hair, picking at your tongue, but you couldn't find it until you did.

You examined the hair on your fingertips to see if it was yours or someone else's that had gotten into the macaroon.

"What exactly are we looking at?" You jumped a little as you turned around to see Rengoku staring at you with interest.

"It was just a hair in my mouth," you explained, lifting your fingers to show him, and he smiled awkwardly. Rengoku had just recently started talking to you more than usual, which you thought was strange, but you didn't pay too much attention to it because, to be honest, Rengoku just wanted to get to know you, he just didn't know if it was for the worse or for the better yet.

"I need you to motivate me, cmon Shinobu," you said, raising your fist in the air while face-timing her.

"I can't give you motivation if I don't have any myself y/n I have an emergency medicine test tomorrow and I'm freaking out," Shinobu said, throwing her head back and pretending to cry.

"It's okay because we're both going to fail together, just like in the past." You stated.

"No, we can't think like losers okay, we've worked hard to get here, so we'll do well on our assignments," Shinobu said, trying to remain optimistic.

"No no no you're right, we got this we can do it ill Facetime you later, okay, I have to get shit done," you said motivated, and Shinobu nodded as she put up an okay sign before you guys hung up.

You stared at your computer not long after hanging up, immediately feeling unmotivated. You were angry at yourself because if you had done this sooner, you wouldn't be as stressed, but you were always a procrastinator.

You threw your head back, cursing yourself, and the worst part was that you had to present this to various business leaders, so you had to do a great job, but overthinking made it worse.

You were scratching your thumb with your index finger, irritated when you heard something hitting the table you were sitting at, and you looked up to see Rengoku.
