A New Voice

Raza
I walk into Kavanagh Media and ask for Kate and Eamon Kavanagh. Ethan has already told them I am arriving today to work with them on putting out the newspaper. I have went over some of the parts I think we should change. The gossip section is one of them. I am thinking it should be different. I wonder why Kate is doing obituaries and emergency runs. I have seen some of her past work and she should be writing serious articles. I am sure now that she is third owner that will change. Ethan ask that I make sure I don't tip the boat over on my first day. I told him I would try not to. Ginny is watching little Ethan until we find someone we trust like we trust her.
Kate
Ethans wife will be working here today dad and I had no idea Ethan would send his wife to participate in running Kavanagh Media. She has his power of attorney over Kavanagh Media, so she has power to say what goes on as long as she isn't outvoted on her ideas. Ethan Sid if we don't allow her handle his third of Kavanagh Media he will just sell his third and to someone who might be less amiable than Raza.
Eamon
What was Enid thinking when she left me only a third of the company, it makes no sense. Now we have three owners with equal say in what is placed in the paper. Raza is here and we have to set an office up for her. We have sectioned off two offices and moved a couple of people to another office. They weren't happy, but with three owners we have to be close by to communicate and get things done.
Raza
I am taken to get my Photo ID and sign what papers they had for me. I guess even owners are given benefits. I sign as Ethans representative. Finally I am taken to my office and my assistant is waiting on me to let me know there will be a meeting between myself, Eamon and Kate Kavanagh that will be before the meeting with staff. It is basically a get to know each other day.
Kate
Raza comes in the conference room with an iPad and a copy of our recent paper. She greets dad and I and takes a seat. We all sit and she takes charge of the meeting. I think we are both dumbfounded and finally she asks us if we want to be aggressive and build Kavanagh Media or do we want to keep with the status quo and wither.
Eamon
I listen to everything Raza is saying and we definitely don't want to wither. She has ideas on how to expand to on line subscriptions and how we can adapt and grow and maybe get into publishing on line books and other types of media. And maybe have someone do on live reports. Kate decides to add her two cents.
Kate
Dad these are ideas that were put forth before and you didn't like them. Why now?
Eamon
She did research and gave me varied ideas in a presentation of what directions they could go in. Advertising is going with on line and we might want to create a studio for on line subjects. Do you think you two might be able to get your heads together and find advertisement to support these projects as well as our paper. We three have to work together on all of this we need to be a United front at this point. Let's find out what we can do to get all of this in motion.
A week later we have a studio set up and have people from our IT department working with Kate, Raza and I on how to do certain things and legal has gotten involved as far stories and what can and can't be on line. Raza had all kinds of ideas for setting up various websites for different age groups and subjects. Then she had a what's happening around Seattle and the outlying areas. We decide on having things geared towards all ages on our sites. Advertising is something we have to get involved in everything. Then we have to hire editors for possible publishing books soon. I am having a hard time keeping up with Raza and Kate, they have been like steam rollers getting everything going. Kate is thrilled about all the changes and has decided to do some on line interviews and other events. Raza has been getting the publishing and advertising and web pages going.
Raza
We have a few glitches here and there, but so far we are trying hard to build Kavanagh Media into a formidable source for information, new, events and special interests. We even are adding different things to bring in interests. Like sponsoring cook offs and printing the winning recipes in the paper and on line.
Kate
Raza and I have different ideas as to events but we have decided to do rotations and ask the employees for ideas as well. We award each month for the best suggestion of stories or special interest. Dad is giving a guiding hand and all three of us are paid equally, which makes dad and I angry, but mom set it up this way. I am starting to think mom had an evil side to her. One we never knew about.
Eamon
Raza is definitely working hard and has gotten us more advertising dollars coming in the door. She has lit a fire under our advertising department and told them they need to get more advertisers or find new jobs. I sat back and watched as they looked at me for sympathy. I told them advertising is where we get the money to pay them with along with everyone else. We have published a small book and it was a child's book and it is selling in bookstores and on line. We hired two book editors and they are going through the submissions. We announced we would be publishing books and word is getting around. Some of our own people submitted works. The CFO has told me we are getting better numbers on the books and our company is getting more interest now.
