After a few minutes, their parents left them alone and Rosetta looked at the boy again.

"So we're getting married?" She asked him.

"Looks like it," he replied.

"You're getting married?" Lia asked innocently looking up at her sister in confusion.

Rosetta looked down at her sister and nodded.

The whole time they spoke Mathew stood there looking at Thomas in anger.

"When was this arranged?" he asked suddenly.

"Apparently it was arranged years ago," Rosetta replied. "But I only found out the last time that mum and dad were home."

"I was only told a week ago," said Thomas.

"Does that mean that neither of you knew?" Lia asked still confused on what was going on.

Rosetta and Thomas nodded in unison at the little girl.

"But why talk about it now?" Lia asked. "Is the wedding going to be soon then?"

All three nobles suddenly looked at each other in shock and realization. Rosetta knew her parents, and she knew that they only told her things last minuet when they thought that it was important and that she'd back out otherwise; basically leaving her no way of escape. If that was indeed the case then the wedding must be soon for them to announce it now. But this was too soon and she was only sixteen, how could they expect her to get married and been fine with it?

"Soon?" Rosetta said gulping.

She didn't know how to answer the question and instead tried to avoid it and go on to another topic.

"Hey Lia how about you go with Ellie and get some ice cream?" she suggested signaling for her maid to come over from where she was standing.

"Ice cream!" Lia said excitedly her eyes now huge.

Rosetta nodded and whispered to Ellie to try and stop her talking about the arranged wedding. Ellie nodded in response and led the young Lady Lia away from her siblings and her new brother in law.

Rosetta excused herself from the other two and said that she was going to go and freshen up and she headed off towards the bathroom so that the others couldn't follow her.

"Why did you lie?" Mathew asked Thomas calmly.

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

"You know what I'm talking about," Mathew spat back. "I've known you since we were kids even if my siblings haven't so unlike them I can tell when you're lying. You didn't find out last week... So how long have you known?"

"Very clever," Thomas said smirking. "I found out a few months ago. I knew whilst you were staying with me and I knew exactly who she was."

"You bastard," Mathew hissed.

"But aren't you glad?" Thomas asked.

"Why would I be glad?" Mathew retorted angrily.

"Think about it, at least it's me and not some random stranger," he said.

"Yeah but I know what you're like. Even if most people don't know I do. I know how you have different women in your bedroom every night before kicking them out in the morning," Mathew said.

"But Matt, my dear friend..." Thomas said smirking. "Just think of all the things I'll be able to do to her once she's mine forever. Just us together in that large bedroom."

He made his words drawl on because he knew that that was the most effective way of torturing Mathew. Thomas knew all about Mathew's love for his younger sister and had seen this marriage as the best way to annoy and slowly kill Mathew inside. It was true that they had once been friends when they were younger and whilst Mathew had still considered them friends till that day, Thomas had given up on treating people like friends or thinking about their feelings years ago.

"You make me sick," Matt spat at Thomas turning to walk off.

"Says the noble who wants to marry his sister," Thomas retorted. "At least I'm not wiling to commit incest."

Thomas stopped walking and emitted a loud deep growl at his ex-best friend who just stood there smugly.

Meanwhile, Rosetta was pacing up and down the corridor outside of the toilets trying to think this all through. She knew that she wasn't always the best sister and defiantly not the best daughter but wife?! That was a completely different category which she didn't want to place herself in yet... or ever for that fact.

"Lady Rosetta?" Ellie asked appearing next to her suddenly with Lia.

"Oh, Ellie you scared me," Rosetta said scooping Lia up into a hug and making her laugh.

Rosetta placed her back down and sighed.

"It it the whole marriage thing?" Ellie asked her quietly so that Lia couldn't hear.

Reluctantly, Rosetta nodded in answer.

"It's to sudden," she muttered back in response.

"Think about it this way," Ellie said looking at her whilst still watching Lia closely to make sure she didn't run off. "At the end of the day, you've got a home and you could have a nice family in a few years, but you can always divorce him after the marriage and plus since your family has a higher social standing, you'd get more money and land than him."

This made Rosetta laugh and she thought about all of this. A family? She'd never thought of that, but she shouldn't need to at her age. She'd only just met her new husband and she wasn't the kind of girl who'd just jump into bed with a stranger straight away.

"What's that smell?" Lia asked interrupting her trail of thoughts.

Rosetta and Ellie both smelt the air and realised that there was indeed something going on there but before they could process it they heard a depp male voice yelling 'fire' and forcing them to start panicking.

So that happened... I'm sorry that I haven't posted for a VERY long time but something... devastating happened to my little sister and it knocked me back into my senses and into reality which I hadn't realised I was living. She was gone and I didn't know what to do but now I think I'm getting my life back together so hopefully it'll all be fine from now onwards but I might still be late with updates.
