I stand in the crowded street of Hogsmeade. It has been about a day since I returned to Hogwarts. I look through the windows of the shops as I wait for Amora, Ophelia and Azealia to arrive so we can eat lunch together. The sounds of shops bells, footsteps, whooshing as people move from atmosphere to atmosphere. I feel someone bump in my shoulder.
"Sorry-" I start to say as I feel something slip in my hand. I spin around looking up and down the street looking for the person that bumped into me. Realizing that they have quickly disappeared, I look down at my hand. The note was crumpled and dented which means whoever wrote it probably rushed. I open the note reading the contents.
Meet in the Alleyway between the two building- Harema
My breath caught within itself as I read the name. I take one more spin as I look down the street attempting to find the person that handed it to me. I take off towards the alleyways attempting to figure out if she is really there. I shove my way through the crowd of people as I reach the alleyway. I stare down the alleyway at the back of a person. Their dark-brown hair is lengthy and flows down the middle of their back. I let my feet walk me down the alleyway toward the mysterious person. They turn around slowly letting me see their faces. Tears spring to my eyes as I look down at the note reading the name one more time before glancing back up at the person.
"Mama..." I say not trusting my voice. I stare at her face, unsure if it was her or just someone that looks like her. She tries to smile but it is clear that her own emotions are beginning to show its presence. I rack my mind trying to make sense of this situation. My mother died when I was five, I witnessed it as clear as day. My mind tries to piece together how she is alive. She rushes towards me, attacking me in a bear hug. I feel myself melt in her embrace. She slowly reaches up towards my head, not trusting her hands. She begins to run her hand through my hair letting herself relax.
"Mama.." I start again, "I thought you died." I whisper quietly. She shakes as she allows herself to cry. I pushed her away, now angry at her for crying in front of me.
"You left me!" I say, raising my voice. Memories of my childhood after my mom supposedly died emerges. She lets go, stepping back from me to look at my face. The memories of Calenia attempting to replace my mother, memories of Calenia belittling me, memories of my dad siding with Calenia days after days. My mother reaches for my hand.
"Jasmine, I never wanted to leave you. I promise. I almost died that day so I had to get away to keep you safe and your dad. I have been watching you grow up since that day." I shake my head listening to her. The scene from that day floods my views as an image of her lying on the ground dead as I cry over her body."I heard the screams and saw you laying there." Younger Jasmine makes an appearance, attempting to make sense of the situation. She looks down realizing that each of her words count into convincing me that it is really her in front of me.
"She didn't cast that spell on me. She cast it on someone else. I was in the room with just Aunt Bellatrix and two other people. Aunt Narcissa thought I was dead too, and still do-" She pauses looking behind her. "Escucha a mi dulce hija (Listen my sweet child), no one can know that I am alive right now. I will return soon and tell you the whole story. Just stay safe. A lot of stuff is going to begin to happen very soon. It will be okay as long as you trust your gut, trust yourself and yourself only. I will reach out once I know it's safe to."
This time she looks behind her and fully turns around. She turns her head and smiles at me before taking off down the alleyway. I try to make sense of her words, but I can't. It becomes hard with each second. I let myself sit on the alleyway floor. A few minutes later, a familiar voice makes its presence known.
"Gosh, where is she?" I hear Azealia's voice as they walk past the alleyway away from the spot we were supposed to meet.
The three can be heard talking which makes me jump up and clear my face of any emotions. I walk out into the busy street calling their names. They all turn around and smile at me. I offered up the best smile I could and began to walk with them towards our destination. My mother's words remain heavy in my mind.
