The great hall echoes with sounds as everyone scuffles down their breakfast before lessons. The days are beginning to blur together as the weekend inches its way towards us. I collect my bags and make my way to the courtyard where the May rain is beginning to settle in.
It has been a good two weeks since we went on Easter break. The days are becoming hotter as we hit the last few days of April. I sit on the bench letting the air feel my lungs. A shadow blocks the sun that was shining its rays on me.
"I should have known you were somewhere outside." I roll my eyes as I feel the presence of my best friend, Ophelia sits beside me. "Did you hear?" When I shake my head no, she lets out an unbelievable scoff. I glance at her as she looks around.
"Well, I am not sure how true it is, but apparently during breakfast Neville said that he received an owl from an unknown source. It told him that the DA needs to be on its toes and be prepared to fight at any point." My ears perk up at the word "Fight".
"Fight?" I questioned which earns me a glare in return as I am sure she is questioning how slow I am.
"Yes, fight. You haven't noticed the increase of evil presences around Hogsmeade. Azealia and I were talking about it. It is quite frightening.
I am worried that if something does happen, we won't be prepared. I don't want to lose anyone." She allows her voice to tremble. I have never seen this side of Ophelia. She sniffles and looks up at me.
"Why have you been distant?" I know she knows, it's obvious. I haven't been really distant but more, so I haven't been hanging out with the girls like I used.
"You can't tell anyone, not even the other girls. My mother is alive." I turn towards her, watching her face.
"Yeah , ok." The sarcasm is evident in voice. I roll my eyes before turning completely to her.
"It's true. I don't think I would lie about my supposedly dead mother. Ophelia, look I didn't know who else to trust with this information." She stares at me for a second. She studies my face looking for a small flatter that hints that I am lying.
She sighs running her hand through her sun-kissed blonde hair. She hesitantly holds out her hand, grabbing onto mine after a pause, she gives it a squeeze.
Knowing Ophelia for as long as I have, I know this is her way of comfort. She has a sarcastic attitude.
I give her a hand a little squeeze, as we watch the sunset on the Rose Garden that reflects the beauty of Hogwarts.
