20. The Duckling and The Raven King

Luminous jumped in front of Abyss hitting her armor button. The bullet clipped in Luminous' armored shoulder pad right as it appeared around her body.

"Luminous!" Yelled Abyss.

"It's stuck..." Said Luminous looking at the perfectly lodged bullet in her armored shoulder pad.

"I could have blocked that myself! Any later and you would have been-"

Another bullet whizzed by her. Luminous reached for the sword that's not on her back anymore. Abyss made a dark portal, grabbing Luminous' hand, and jumped inside. Peter blinked once the girls were out of his sight. Tensing up his eyes swiveled as he kept his trigger finger on his gun.

Luminous and Abyss jumped out of another portal away from the battle. Luminous' armored boots touching the sandy ground below.

"What? You've been traveling using-"

But before Luminous could finish Abyss was gone into another portal. She reappeared behind Peter pointing her wand at him.

"Underneath your bed monsters are made, shine a light to-"

But before she could finish the spell, Peter swerved pointing the gun at her face. Luminous jumped in front of Abyss raising her gauntlets up, the bullet bounced off of them sending her backward onto Abyss. Peter pointed his gun at Luminous firing again. Abyss grabbed Luminous around the waist and disappeared into the portal before the bullet could hit.

"Luminous, stay here." Said Abyss wiping sweat off of her snow-white face.

"Wait. I have an idea." Said Luminous grabbing Abysses hand.

Peter steadily looked over the desert with its hues of pinkish-orange. His finger on the trigger. His rabbit ears twitched right as Abyss jumped out of her portal behind him. Peter pointed his gun right at her.

"Luminous now!" Yelled Abyss swinging Luminous in front of herself.

Luminous held out her arm guards. The bullet hit them and she skidded back before regaining balance.

"Abyss now!"

"Underneath your bed monsters are made, shine a light to make them fade!" Abyss chanted.

Peter's eyes widened as a light sparked from her wand. He dove for the sandy dunes before a beam of light cut across the sand where he was.

"Now jump!" Yelled Abyss grabbing Luminous' hand.

They both jumped into the portal. Peter remend laying in the sand that blended with his brown fur. When Luminous and Abyss jumped out of the portal.

Peter pointed his gun at Luminous and she held out her arm guard ready to block when the sun peeked over the dimly pink sky. Her armor went back into its button and her pajamas lay on the desert ground. Luminous peaked her little yellow duck head out of her bundle of clothes.

Peter fired his gun at the little duck. Abyss picked Luminous up inside her bundle of clothes, summoning another portal and escaping from the battle.

Peter fired his gun at them a few times, but Abyss had become out of range with a few more portals before they were completely gone into the sunrise.

Luminous looked at the sunrise and saw that they were heading in the direction of the clock tower.

"Are you sure we're going in the right direction?" Asked Luminous unsure of herself. "We have to get to Vainglorious as fast as we can."

Abyss frowned, her delicate fingers intertwining with Luminous' yellow feathers.

"It's just. I get this feeling that..that-"
