CRACK!
The sound of glass shattered through the pizzeria. Before Vainglorious knew what hit him the counter he was slouched against shattered into pieces. He tumbled until his back hit the wine rack. Bottles of old grape wine spilled over his soft wavy white hair, dripping down over his face, to his blue pants.
His gray eyes looked up through the purple sparkling wine to Luminous. She had a smirk that looked unnatural on her face. Her blue eyes glinted and were aimed down at him like the sword she was holding.
"And here we are, the cat and the mouse, aye Vassy?" Luminous said. No, Luminous's mouth, Luminous' voice, but not Luminous. Not anymore.
"Doge snobs!" Yelled the Dawn of Fate.
Before Vainglorious could blink, Luminous thrust her sword at him.
"Too much heartbreak so you put up a wall, not even summer will make the ice thaw!"
An ice shield appeared in front of Vainglorious. The Dawn of Fate crashed throw it shattering it to pieces. Vainglorious quickly rolled to the side and shouted out.
"Warm lush flowers from soft plush kisses, but cold feet is what you get from talking to misses!"
The orange and yellow checkered floor became ice underneath them. Luminous slipped and stumbled off balance. Vainglorious pushed himself off of the wine rack sliding out the door of the pizzeria.
Vainglorious leaped up onto his feet, running across the asphalt street. He started to cross when he noticed that the black blobs came down from the sky like rain, melting the already melting buildings, eating everything in sight.
Vainglorious quickly ducked under the shop's metal awning hoping the old worn-out thing held. Luminous stalked out of the pizza shop, her huge vermillion sword dragging on the sidewalk.
"Come out. Come out where ever you are~" She sung, her eyes sporting this huge Cheshire cat smile while looking around.
Vainglorious noticed something about the way Sly was making Luminous move. He was tiptoeing around the shadows of the hands of the clock tower as if he was being, cautious? Also, the black blobs were frozen in time were in the shadows of the tower.
DING-DONG!
The clock tower rang out shifting its hands and its shadow, all the black blobs began moving around again. Vainglorious shook his head. This gave him an idea for a strategy.
"There we are little vassy~ You're the mouse and I'm the big bad wolf!" Laughed Luminous.
Vainglorious held out his birch wand and chanted.
"Bittersweet is the feeling of an Icicle spear, When you get a feeling of death but without any fear!"
An ice spear shot out from Vainglorious' wand right at Luminous. Luminous reached for her heart-shaped armor button, but it was too late.
Sly felt that the strings he was controlling Luminous with go slack from his throne in the funhouse.
"Now that's cold, I didn't think he would actually do it. Ha Ha ah Ha Ha!" Cackled Sly. "But this is all love is worth to humans after all! Ha Ha Ha Ha!"
Vainglorious watched as Luminous' bright blue eyes became cloudy. Her bobbed blonde hair swaying to the side, her dainty body following suit. As she crashed to the ash street.
Vainglorious steadied his breathing. Until he saw the blobs begin to surround Luminous' body. Melting the street as they went. He jumped up not realizing he moved at all until he was dragging Luminous' body into another shop.
The shop had hundreds of white bridal dresses splayed across the store. Vainglorious dragged Luminous' body across the blue carpeted floor. Until they were underneath an archway of white roses, far enough away from the doors or windows.
"Welp, this was fun while it lasted." Said the Dawn of Fate. "I would love to help you out with Sly, snobs, but well...I'm going back to the hall of records soon. No choice in the matter I'm afraid. Every time a welder falls dead. I get to go back to my starting point and wait for the next one...again..."
Vainglorious looked at the sword strapped to Luminous' back. In fact, the Dawn of Fate was becoming translucent, almost as if some invisible force was calling him back.
Vainglorious knelt down next to Luminous' corpse, his navy blue trench coat brushing the blue carpet around him. He pulled off one of the two wooden rings he had on his ring finger, then put the other one on hers. Held her dainty hand close to his lips and breathed.
"A young reader fell in love with a storyteller from kingdom red. He would read her stories every night before bed. It came time to marry, she was the only person he would wed..."
"What are you doing?" Asked the Dawn of Fate.
"...But at last the only record of her, he had already read. For his bride was already long dead..." Vainglorious continued, ignoring the sword.
"You're not...no! This spell is forbidden for a reason! This is going into witchcraft! Snobs!"
"...So he made up a spell giving half his life to the storyteller from kingdom red, for she is the corpse bride he has chosen to wed!"
"There are some things worse than death!"
Vainglorious sealed the vow with a kiss before pulling back with a deep breath. Yet....
"Really?" Tears threatened across Vainglorious' gray eyes. "Really!"
Nothing happened. Luminous was still a dead corpse.
Suddenly all the windows in the bridle shops shattered. The corrupt spilled in from the outside, Their clawed hands gripping the window sill.
"I know I've done wrong and I'm not the best person. I honestly don't know why I'm doing this stupid quest with you anymore, maybe it's because... you're the only person I have. I don't care about anyone else, but you have to be alive."
Vainglorious, frustrated, and on the brink of tears Vainglorious cried out.
"You have to be alive for me!"
