Messiah-

I looked around the bright room confused feeling an awfully amount of pain. I could barely lift myself up- that was until my mind went to Delilah. I quickly lifted the top half of my body from off of the hospital bed letting out a load hiss.

Damn it hurts.

A nurse ran in my room trying to push me back on the bed. I shook my head no immediately regretting it. I put my hand on my head regretting that more due to my damaged hand.

"Mr. Harris, you have to lay down." She pushed me back down. "You woke up a couple of hours ago do you remember that?"

"No," I croaked out. My throat is dry.

She started to write something down on the paper attached to the cliff board. "Where's my daughter? She was with me when I got shot." I panicked.

"Don't worry, she's with her mother,"

My heart dropped. Her mother?

"What do you mean?"

"Her mother and aunt picked her up the day you got shot. They were really worried they said they would come see you when you wake up." She gave me a kind smile.

That seemed hard to believe. I'm about to have a fucking panic attack. My breathing wasn't stead at this point. The nurse hurried and tried to put the breathing mask on my face.

"Mr. Harris, I'm going to need you to calm down. You just got out of a coma," coma? How long was I sleep? I got my breathing back to normal not needing the mask anymore.

"How long was I sleep?"

"For two weeks and one day."

Two weeks? I left Delilah alone for two weeks? Where's Justus?

"Mr. Harris, you need to calm down your breathing is getting irregular again. You she visitors outside do you want me to tell them to come back another time?"

"No it's fine they can come in." The nurse left the room and later Devonte and Justus, walked into the room. I looked down to see Delilah was holding onto Justus hand rather tightly. I noticed her hair was slightly matted and her echubby cheeks looked smaller than usual. I immediately forced myself up forgetting what the nurse said. I tried to stand up before Devonte pushed me down.

"Woah, you have a concussion and you got shot five times Messiah calm down," Devonte said. Delilah took one look at me before she started to cry. She was balling her eyes out I could tell something happened. Justus lifted her on the bed. Delilah went to hug me and I made sure not to let out any noises to let her know I was in pain. That would scare her.

I rubbed her back. "What happened baby? What's wrong, D?"

"Mommy, TT and D- Ten, be mean to me, they no let me eat. I missed you daddy," I looked up at Justus to see he was trying to avoid looking at me.

"Ten touched my no no," she tried to explain to me. I understood her fully. It clicked Ten was the one to shoot me. But he only shot me three times.

"What they do? Where are they now?"

"J and Vonte got me from her house,". She tried to explain to me. Huh?

My eyes starting to be filled with my own tears. I feel like I failed as a father. Some nigga was touching in my three year old daughter.

"It's okay Delilah. You're okay, right? You're okay now?" I asked as she nodded her head. She hiccuped. She looked sleep deprived. I should've never let her see Shana in the first place. It's my fault.

I rocked Delilah from side to side the best I could without messing up any of my stitches. After a while her grip on me loosened as her breathing slowed down. She was sleep. I looked up to see Devonte gone and Justus wiping his own tears.

"I thought we lost you, Siah." He broke down. Justus walked over to me leaning down as he placed his face in the crook of my neck as he was standing. He was careful trying not to hurt me. Justus let out soft sobs. I've never seen him cry.

"I'm okay baby, see?"

He pulled away looking at me taking in my appearance. "Pops closed the shop for a while," I nodded my head. I slowly leaned back on the bed. Delilah started to tighten her hold on me making suck in a breath. Justus became alarmed.

"What's wrong?"

"J, I'm fine. I'm all good." My whole body hurts.

"Where's Mayla and Shana? Why was Ten with my daughter?"

Justus avoided eye contact.

"J, what happened?"

"They set you up," he sat in one of the empty chairs. My heart dropped, they? not including Mayla, Mayla wouldn't do that.

"They?"

"Mayla, Shana, Ten, and Braylen." He mumbled. Mayla wouldn't do that to me. I'm her younger brother. "Tell me you're kidding, J. Mayla wouldn't do that..." I convinced myself and that's when he told me the full story.

"Shana and Mayla was having a relationship on the low, according to Braylen, they wanted you to be in the relationship but they knew you wouldn't...and Mayla was your whole sister. Ten ended up replacing you."

I shook my head, biting down on my lip.

"If Braylen helped they wouldn't kill you, the plan was to shoot you three times but you was still standing...Braylen shot the other two times, they took Delilah and-," Justus clinched his fist closed thinking about it.

"Ole dude had Delilah calling him daddy, he was touching all on her too and he roughed her up, didn't feed her neither, you can see that they didn't take care of her, look at the matts."

I looked down at Delilah's hair. This girl will be traumatized.

"I tried to get the matts out of her hair. I got some of the loose ones out, I didn't know what to do exactly,"

"Thank you, J."

"Where are they now?" I had a feeling that they were dead. My sister set me up and now she's most likely dead.

"Dead." He answered simply shrugging his shoulders. Maybe if I had let Shana see Delilah earlier, maybe if I hadn't pushed Mayla away, everything would be normal right now. All I could think was 'maybe'.

"It's not your fault, Siah." It is though. I felt like shit. My three year old is traumatized. I wasn't there to help her.

Devonte came back in the room with snacks from the vending machine he tried to offer me chips but I declined. "I'm glad my brother and law is okay," Devonte teased. Trying to lighten the mood.

Justus smacked the back of his neck, hard.

"Don't start saying dumb shit Devonte."

Devonte huffed sitting down on the couch now quietly eating his chips. The whole room was silent, well, besides Devonte munching and Delilah's soft snore's.
