Deep underneath the ground of Dusk Castle existed a secret training ground. Known and used only by Lord Alexander himself. This is where he and Angel would hold their private training sessions. The training grounds were set up like a huge arena. The ground was now covered in small craters, diamond shards scattered the floor. Angel's shirtless body was covered in small cuts. He concealed himself behind one Lord Alexander's many large diamond spikes, staying out of his line of sight. If he could just get close to him, he might have a chance.
"Very good, Angel, use the environment to your advantage." Lord Alexander's eyes wandered the arena. "Find a way to make your enemies special abilities work for you. If you can do that then you can defeat any advisory." Angel rushed over to another spike before Lord Alexander spotted him. However, just as he was about to take cover. Lord Alexander smirked. He snapped his fingers. Diamond chains shot out of the ground wrapping around Angel's neck like a tight collar.
"Sh-shit," Angel grabbed the chain, cloaking it with a curse that aged it into weak graphite. He freed himself, ripping the graphite off his neck. The chain broke as a result. Lord Alexander lifted his arms, diamond spikes shot out of the ground. "I've got this," Angel placed his bare feet on each spike, careful to cut himself. Each time his foot touched the spike, it broke becoming weak graphite. He grabbed a steel sword that rested on the ground and swung it at Lord Alexander's throat. He cloaked his hand in diamond, caught the sword and pushed Angel back with a palm strike using his other hand. The impact was so great it knocked Angel on his ass. "I'm finished yet," Angel jumped to his feet with a handspring.
"I believe you are," Lord Alexander tried to create a strength line of diamond spikes. However, nothing happened. Angel grinned. He shifted his gaze over to the curse that rested on the sword. It was marked with a crossed out S. This curse prevented Lord Alexander from using his special ability. "So you've learned." He tightened his grip on the sword. "If it's a sword fight you want then, I'll give it to you." He tossed Angel the sword. He picked up another sword that rested by his feet. "Come," He urged Angel forward.
"As you wish your highness," Angel kept trying to slash him but Lord Alexander blocked his every strike. He tried to slash Angel, he bent back dodging the cut barely, ducking under his arm and trying to slash him. Lord Alexander moved back to avoid the attack. Angel tried to catch him with a fast leg sweep but he jumped over it. He tried to cut him this time, Lord Alexander caught his wrist and twisted it. Angel dropped the sword and was hit with a powerful backhand that busted his lip wide open. The impact knocked him to the floor laying on his back. He tried to do a handspring to get back on his feet. Before he could, Lord Alexander held the blade to his throat. "Damn it, I was so close."
"You are getting better," Lord Alexander reached his hand out to him. Angel grabbed it and was helped to his feet. "You've got great instincts Angel, you just need to trust them is all." He snapped his fingers. The diamond shards disappeared into dust.
"Let's go again," Angel encouraged. "I know I can beat you. I just need one more chance." Lord Alexander laughed. "I just need a better strategy like ugh," He rubbed the back of his neck. "Next time, I'm hiding. I could use my invisibility curse that'd work much better." Lord Alexander laughed harder. "What?"
"You have so much to learn, Angel," Lord Alexander continued to laugh. "The key point to having a combat strategy is that the person you are facing is unaware of it. See now I know you'll be invisible so now I just need to find a way to counter it. Which I assure you, will not be hard to do." He patted Angel on the shoulder. "That's enough training for today."
"There is something we need to discuss," Lord Alexander picked the sword up off the floor and hung it on the wall. Angel grabbed his shirt, slipping it on. "Come," He touched a brick in the wall causing the secret pathway to open. "The Lunar Ball is tomorrow night," He spoke as Angel followed him through the dark labyrinth underneath the castle.
