The competition had come to a close. Soon after, loud dance music filled the ballroom. The dance floor was crowded with couples. This ball was starting to become a raging pool of hormones. The effects of the blood moon were starting to take their toll. The werewolves had dropped their guard, their heightened sense now geared toward finding and seducing their mate into sex. The vampires as a result had become more relaxed and weren't too worried about the wolves. Both sides were solely focused on enjoying themselves.

This presented the perfect opportunity for Raine to make her move. Lord Alexander was completely unguarded and standing next to his brother Lord Grimm. The two of them were taking advantage of the fact that both sides were distracted. This allowed the two of them to talk without intrusion. Or so they thought.

Raine glanced over at Fang. The two of them exchanged nods and made their way through the crowd. They used their hoods to conceal their faces from the crowd. Raine remained on the vampire side of the ball room. While Fang stayed on the werewolf side. Just as they were getting closer to the two kings. Raine came to a stop when a werewolf grabbed Fang's hood and pulled it down. Fang turned to face him as a response.

"I know you, you're-," The werewolf bared his canines prepared to bite Fang. Before he could sink his sharp teeth into Fang's neck. Raine snuck up on him and shocked him with a surge of electricity. She used just enough to knock him out. He fell to the floor and Fang pulled her hood back up.

"I could've handled that," Fang showed her that she had a sharp icicle in her hand. She must have created it by combining her abilities to wield water and wind.

"Without drawing attention to us," Raine added. The least Fang could do with that icicle is stab him in the throat. The blood alone would be enough to get them caught. Raine was in no mood to deal with an army of angry werewolves.

"Probably not," Fang whispered. The icicle melted in her hand. "Thanks for the save." She stepped over the werewolf's unconscious body. "Let's get this mission over with, the sooner we get done here. The sooner we can get back to helping people. This ball is our chance to get back on our feet and I don't want to waste it. Too many people are counting on us."

"My thoughts exactly," Raine took the lead moving through the crowd with Fang following close behind her. Lord Alexander was in sight, she was almost there, she came to stop when she felt a hand grab her shoulder. She quickly turned and grabbed the person's hand. She twisted it with the intent to break it.

"Ou, Raine it's me," Vanilla pulled her hood down. She released her hand. "I thought we were in this together." She began holding her wrist.. "Why didn't you come get me?" She asked. "How can we be on the same team if you're just going to ditch me?" Vanilla put her hands on her hips. "Well, are you going to answer me or not?"

"I'll handle this one," Fang offered. "Vanilla, listen to me," She stood in front of her. "We are about to piss off two powerful kings. I understand that you want to help us but until we've had time to train you properly. There's not much you can do to help us in a fight like this should it come to that. Which knowing Lord Grimm and how much he hates my guts. It most likely will come to that. If you try to help us-,"

"You'll only be getting in the way." Raine finished. "Your safety is top priority and I can't focus on protecting you and fighting Lord Alexander at the same time. As strong as I am, even I have limits. So for now," She lowered Vanilla's hood. "You're just some vampire attending the Lunar Ball."

"But," Vanilla tried to argue. Raine scolded her. This wasn't up for discussion. Raine made a promise to Jake to keep Vanilla safe. She wasn't going to jeopardize that promise and put Vanilla's life at risk. "I suppose you're right, I'd only get in the way." She lowered her head in defeat. "I just really wanted to help."
