Chapter 20
Jimmy's POV

A lot has past since our story was last told. Now, the gang and I are defending left and right. We all have holed ourselves up in the kitchen while zombies grunt and growl at the doors. But at night, the whole place goes silent. I figure it's because even zombies need sleep.

Before this all happened, we were holding the doors back, but then Jason ran off in the other direction.

"Where the hell are you going?!" Ryan called out to him but there was no answer. Finally, Jason came back with one of those massive metal tables wheeling in front of him. I knew what he was thinking.

"Everyone help push the table against the door!" Jason ordered. "There's food in the kitchen and weapons, too. Its as good as we're going to get right now" We all followed his demand and pushed the table against the doors. It should hold the zombies for a while, but the undead are getting restless and stronger. I fear that they could over power anything at this point, but that might be my subconscious giving up already. And I know that I can't give up. And I know that Caroline told me that people do love me, but I don't think those people care anymore. I'm gone from they're lives. They have bigger problems on their hands.

The banging of the doors are so loud that they interrupted my train of thought. Soon we were all running to the kitchen, which brings us to where we are now. We have plenty of weapons, but we're running out of food. Someone had to go out on a hunt and no one was eager to volunteer.

"I'm starving." Katrina said rubbing her stomach.

"Then maybe you should go get the food from the other side of the complex since you're the one who needs the food the most." Adam spit back. Everyone was on edge right now so that wasn't a surprise to anyone.

"Adam you know she can't do that." Ty defended her. "You know stepping out of those doors is sudden death."

Then I remembered! "What if we went at night?" I exclaimed.

"At night?!" Everyone questioned me.

"Jimmy how would that be much different?" Jerome asked.

"Because" I said. "Everything goes still... at night."

"But we don't know what's out there." Mitch chimed in.

"And we never will unless we head out." I argued back. We were all annoyed and hungry, but now everyone is just being stupid. "I'll go and do it myself if I have to," I added at the end.

"No," Ty quickly shot me down. "If you're going, you're going to need back up. I'll go, too."

"Same here," Adam said. "Anyone else?" But no one else spoke up. They just stared at the floor.

"Than it's settled," Ian finally spoke. "You will all go out tonight and get more food and if you don't make it back... then we'll find something else to eat." We all stared amazed at the last comment. Never would I ever have thought that I'd have to resort to that. And I better not have to. I'm going to find food... and I will come back alive.

<><> Yay new chapter. My updating is really slow and I apologize, but I would like to say that these chapters will be kept a little short. You should still stick around though. The end is near... DUN DUN DUUUUNNN! ~ATHENA <><>
