The dazzling sunset reflected beautifully from your gaze. Diluc couldn't help but get lost in your eyes, the dreamy colors mixing together into a shade that complimented your appearance. In a matter of months, the winery owner had grown fond of you.

If you weren't helping the Knights in their daily duties, you were with Diluc, sharing a drink in the tavern or patrolling the areas surrounding Mondstat. In his eyes, it was a luxury to be in your company.

What first started as hesitant interactions turned into gentle embraces. He was there to escort you at night after a long day of work for the both of you. He was no longer the cold, irritable young man you once saw him as. He was Diluc. Just Diluc, the person who cared deeply for you, enjoyed every second of your bond and found peace in you.

He hissed as you flicked his forehead with a small giggle. "Zoning out now, are we?" You teased, letting out a content sigh as you admired the scenery. "I say we start playing chess now." You suggested, turning your attention to Diluc. He shrugged and took off his coat, immediately sorting the black pieces in front of him. "I've just been waiting." He mumbled dismissively as you positioned the white pieces. Looking up from the board, the pretty smile he adored was there once more. A bit bothered by how amused he made you, he huffed, leaning forward.

He stared intently at the board before his thoughts wandered. He suddenly remembered the day after the little tavern incident. You were too weak to stand, so he frustratingly accepted your request for him to give you a piggyback ride. As he hoisted you up onto his back, he felt butterflies in his stomach as you snaked your arms around his torso. "I owe you one." You yawned. He coughed before glancing at the mirror. His cheeks were a slight tinge of red. That was when he truly realized he began to feel things for you. Seemingly unexplainable at first, the Dawn Winery staff were baffled with his sudden attachment to you. You could skip into his room unannounced, having a small chat about the Knight's activities and sometimes a drink or two despite his hate for 'idle chitchat'.

'Could Master Diluc be..' the maids would whisper as he'd pass by with a scowl, hand in hand with you, who on the other hand had the biggest grin. Memories of you together flashed one by one as he mindlessly moved the chess pieces. He reminisced the first time you watched the sunset together.

"It's breathtaking." You sighed, smiling at the peaceful scenery. Diluc hummed in agreement as he carefully watched you. At this point, he was clearly in love. His eyes travelled from your eyes to your lips. 'So soft.' He'd think.

"Thanks for bringing me here." You hummed as he whipped his head to the opposite direction and cleared his throat. "It's nothing."

You raised an eyebrow at him before averting your gaze to the sunset once more. Turning to look at you again, he softly smiled. If only he had leaned in, connecting your lips and letting you feel his undying passion for you-

"Checkmate." You smirked. Diluc didn't pay attention at all to the chess board. He shook his head and sighed. "Why are you so distracted?" You pouted, moving the board off the table. "You." He muttered. "I?" You repeated, dumbfounded. He grumbled and quickly leaned forward, crashing his lips onto yours. Your eyes widened before you melted into the kiss, caressing his cheek gently. There it was. The exchange you had both been waiting for. His heart exploded upon feeling your positive response as you both got lost in the moment.
