Diluc was the stern type. Any unnecessary commotion in or outside the tavern rarely went unpunished in his hands, leading the citizens of Mondstat to hold him in high regard. You were well aware of this thanks to Kaeya's unending amount of stories. Unfortunately, you had learned this the hard way. Amber told you about the large number of hilichurl camps suddenly appearing near the city, and after running into a surprisingly strong one, you got extremely exhausted in the middle of fending them off. You cleared the camp, but not without a few fresh bruises and cuts on your body in return. "Shit," you cursed under your breath, realizing your injured state. You needed to get help back at Mondstat.

The thought of Diluc's angry glare haunted you, but entering the Angel's Share was the best option, as the Knights of Favonius' Headquarters was definitely farther away from Mondstat's entrance. The guards at the gate tried to stop and aid you to no avail. You barged inside the building, the loud crash of the wooden doors silencing the entire tavern. The patrons stared in shock, registering your weak, tired form fall to the ground. Diluc was taken aback. He was ready to yell at you for the loud entrance, however he swiftly jumped over the counter with skill and laid your head in his lap. There was a trace of disappointment in his words as he requested Charles to fetch a doctor.

Unsure of what to tell you, he clicked his tongue and brushed your hair away from your eyes. You were half-asleep, too sore and worn out to even meet his gaze. "You need to be more careful next time." He mumbled. You could only nod slightly, mouthing a small 'sorry' and passing out.

Everything was spinning. The feeling of laying in an unfamiliar bed jolted you awake. You looked around frantically, wondering where you were, before two strong hands pushed you back down. "Don't move." A deep voice ordered, which you realized to be Diluc's. "Master Diluc?" You asked weakly, retreating into the mattress and squinting to make out his features. It was him, sure enough. His eyes were the same fiery red you remembered, his long hair tied back into a ponytail slightly higher than usual. The black coat he sported was tossed to the side, leaving him in his black shirt and white vest. "Where am I?" you whispered, not wanting to bother Diluc, who seemed to busy fixing something on the desk across the room.

"Hush," he muttered as he walked towards you. He held up a warm cloth and glass of water, an unamused look in his eyes. "You've overworked yourself." He scolded, nudging you with the glass and dabbing your forehead with the cloth. "That camp was stronger than the others." You shrugged, taking a sip of the water. He rolled his eyes and walked towards the chair where his coat hung from. "Save it, you've got a fever and you're too weak to move. You need to hold yourself accountable at times like these."

There was a moment of silence between the two of you. You felt guilty -- you were reckless, and Diluc had to face the consequences. To top it all off, you humiliated yourself in front of those in the tavern, and likely took away their mood to drink. "I'm really sorry you have to deal with this." you say, attempting to stand up and leave. Diluc rushed to stop you. "Damn it (Y/N), I told you not to move!" He exclaimed, pulling you beside him on the bed. Perplexed, you stared at him, questioning his persistence. "What matters now is you're safe, so please, let me take care of you for now." He sighed. You nodded slowly, realizing you were way too tired to protest. He gently placed his coat around your shoulders and damn, it was big. It was like an entire blanket on you.

"Get some rest for now. I'll allow to you to leave tomorrow." His words were firm, but you were touched by how much he cared. It was embarrassing to thank him for his actions, so you laid back down on the bed and closed your eyes. The sound of your breathing echoed in the room, Diluc's hand on your shoulder as he made sure you slept soundly. "I'm sure you have a lot of things to face soon." He whispered, standing up to leave. Taking one last look at your peaceful state, he smiled. "You should tell me to come along next time."

Opening his bedroom door, he exited. The maids pondered whether to ask why he chose to leave you in his room out of all the available rooms, or to ask about your wellbeing. Either way, the situation caused a stir among the winery's employees (much to Diluc's dismay). The patrons left in the tavern were equally as curious, going so far as to ask the knights about your relationship. Kaeya laughed, explaining you'd only met Diluc recently. "Perhaps Master Diluc has finally become honest with himself."
