Hoseok dragged his feet down the hallway after a long day of teaching a new routine at his dance studio. This time he was instructing a group of pre-teens for an upcoming K-pop cover dance competition, and keeping a bunch of rowdy boys in order really took a toll on his body.
All he wanted to do was to take a hot shower, order takeout and binge one of his favourite TV shows.
Hoseok punched in his door code and to his surprise, his lights were already on, something that he rarely walked into. He slowly dropped his backpack and to his surprise, there was a set of pink vans that clearly didn't belong to him.
“What the hell?” He muttered under his breath and walked in noticing the only light that was now off was the one in the spare bedroom he never frequented.
Hoseok flicked on the lights immediately, gasping at the sight of a strange girl tucked away in the bed.
The sudden brightness caused you to stir and you turned around to face the door. You did not expect to see an unfamiliar man watching over you.
“What the- get out!” You shrieked, clutching the blanket to your body horrified at what the strange man would do to you.
Hoseok was stunned hearing those words.
“Me get out?? You get out! This is my apartment!” He shouted although still keeping his distance from you.
Hoseok watched you jump out of the bed and storm towards him. He quickly backed away until the two of you were now in the lounge squaring up to each other.
“What do you mean by your apartment? I just rented this place, the landlord didn't say anything about a roommate!”
You snapped, you weren't in the mood for that cold Seoul attitude that was going to drive you away from something you were happy about for once. You had to stand your ground.
Hoseok chuckled dryly and folded his arms. “Mr Kim would never do that, I've been living here for three years now.”
“T-three y-years?” You stuttered, you were in definitely no position to scream at him right now.
“Yes. T.H.R.E.E. YEARS...” Hoseok raised his voice, “so I'm sorry to crash on your parade but you need to leave.”
Before you could protest, you and Hoseok heard someone punch in the keycode and an older man now stepped into the apartment sharing a worried glance between the two of you.
“The tenants said they heard screaming. What's going on?” The man spoke and frowned down at you.
“Ah... here is the Mr Landlord himself. Seokjin, is there a reason you decided to rent the spare bedroom without letting me know?” Hoseok rolled his eyes and the way he looked at you made you want to slap that smug look off his face.
“I'm sorry I never rented out this room, Hoseok, I've never met her before...” Seokjin scratched the back of his head.
“I responded to your Advertisement and that guy Jungkook brought me up here and showed me the place!” You groaned and Hoseok and Seokjin both sighed simultaneously.
“Jungkook, that little brat!” Hoseok scoffed and now as the scene unfolded, he began to feel a little remorse towards you.
“Jungkook is my nephew,” Seokjin rubbed his temple, “did you pay the deposit directly to him?”
Seokjin groaned once more after you nodded and showed him the transaction.
“God the room doesn't even cost that much and he used an Ad of an apartment we sold last week, I'm going to kill him!”
“Who would trust a weirdo like Jungkook with their deposit money?” Hoseok laughed and you glared at him until his laughter silenced and he took another step away from you in defense.
The landlord called up his nephew until Jungkook finally appeared at the apartment, a sheepish grin spread across his face when he realized he was in trouble.
You were about to lunge forward to him but to your surprise, Hoseok caught your hand and held you back. You were silently grateful he did because hitting the landlord’s nephew right now might have you sleep on the streets for the night.
“Care to explain what happened here, Jungkook?” Seokjin raised a brow and Jungkook immediately held his hands up in defense.
“Look, I'm sorry but I was trying to help you out and Hoseok said he was looking for someone to split the rent with!”
“That doesn't mean you can drop a stranger off without my knowledge.” Hoseok argued and Jungkook rubbed his hands together apologetically.
“I’m sorry, I'm sorry to everyone...” He pleaded until he finally noticed you and Hoseok had calmed down a little.
“You also overcharged her, where’s the rest of the money?” Seokjin questioned and Jungkook slowly backing away from his uncle was enough indication to everyone in the room that this was not ending well.
Jungkook pressed his lips together.
“I..er kinda spent it all on a new tattoo machine.”
“What?!?!?” You yelled and Seokjin now was the one to try and calm you down.
“Miss, I'm so sorry for my nephew’s mistake. I can pay for a hotel suite until we can come up with the deposit money...”
He offered and you shrugged.
“Ugh, I thought I had secured at least one thing for my new life in Seoul but now that’s screwed up!” You groaned and you absolutely hated people seeing you cry but you couldn't hold your tears back any longer.
“Hey hey hey, I mean yes I was upset that all of this was sudden but I am looking for a roommate and... nevermind, I’ll allow you to stay here.”
Hoseok assured you and looked over at Seokjin.
“You should allow her a month free rent to make up for your idiotic nephew overpricing her.”
“Done!” Seokjin agreed and walked over to shake your hand, “I'm deeply sorry again miss uh-”
“Kim Sora.” Jungkook chimed in and received three distasteful glances, “What! I'm just trying to help!” he retorted.
“You helped enough.” Hoseok muttered and saw both Jungkook and the landlord left the apartment.
He turned around and awkwardly returned to face you, holding out his hand, “Jung Hoseok, I'm guessing you're from Gwangju as well?”
You wiped the last of your tears and shook his hand, “Kim Sora and yeah, how do you know? Are you from Gwangju too?”
You felt a bit of warmth finally meeting someone from your hometown.
Hoseok nodded, “Yeah, your accent. It’s thick. Okay Sora, welcome to apartment #1802. Let's stay out of each other’s way, okay?”
“Deal.”
