Chapter Four: The Williams

Jake couldn't help but trudge his whole way to the Potion Room. He was tired, cranky, and constantly on edge. Alex walked along beside him, a frown on his normally smiling face.

"You never did tell me what your dream was about," Alex nudged him. Jake shrugged, not wanting to worry his friend until Jessica made the announcement to the camp. They walked the rest of the way in silence, unaware of the six year old creeping up behind them.

"Hey Jake!" Henry Williams appeared in front of them out of nowhere, the young boy was a cheerier image of Jessica. He wore a red cape, a white shirt, and a red mask. Jake ruffled his dirty blonde hair, quickly putting on a smile.

"Heya, Henry! I heard your cabin got assigned to the Potion Room today with us too, buddy!" Jake exclaimed, pulling Henry towards him in a brotherly hug. He couldn't help but feel his stomach clench in guilt as he thought about his dream. Henry was only six. Six. What were they putting him through?

"Where's Beth, Henry?" Alex smiled, looking around.

The Williams family was said to have been the family who started Camp Wright. It seemed only right that they ran it now. Although it was uncommon for siblings to have powers, for all three siblings to all have different powers... Well, that was unheard of. Henry, the youngest of the three, was an Invisible. Beth Williams, the middle child, was a Magician. She and Alex had been a couple for six months now and they were loving it.

"Inside," Henry stated, pointing to the large building in front of them. The Potion Room. The architecture screamed Greece with the pillars and stone gargoyles guarding the entrance. The dusty red bricks making up the building were covered with vines thanks to the Tree-Huggers. The three of them walked inside slyly, ashamed at their tardiness.

"Late as usual."

They turned to see Beth, arms crossed. Her blonde hair was awry, and she had a bit of dirt smeared onto her face. Her wand was sticking out of her back pocket. She carried it as easily as Henry carried around his pocket knife.

"Hey, honey," Alex grinned, pulling Beth towards him by her belt loops.

Beth laughed gently, pushing him away. "Careful," she warned him, "Frog legs." He looked her up and down, looking at some green goo that was stuck onto her Camp Wright shirt. "Frog legs that you should already have put into your potion." She poked his nose.

"Right, I might need some help with that," Alex teased her, leading her away from Jake and Henry. Jake watched them go, unable to feel as at ease as they could. Henry watched Jake carefully, frowning slightly.

"You're unhappy," he said blandly.

"Unhappy? No, no, no kid. I'm just fine," Jake gave him a small smile.

Henry's innocent little brow furrowed in confusion. Just then, Jessica walked in, frantic and wide-eyed. Henry looked upon her, his eyes flitting back and forth between Jake and Jessica. "Jessie? What's wrong? What's going on?"

Jessica laughed wildly, hugging Henry tightly. She ignored the tear that slid down her cheek, giving Jake a stare only he would understand. "Henry! There you are! Everything is fine, it's going to be alright... Everything is going to be alright..."

"Okay, then gerroff me!" Henry protested the hug, pushing his sister away and crossing his arms. The boy puffed out his chest, standing so he was at his full height. Jake's fondness of the boy got the better of him, and he gave Jessica a 'What can you do?' shrug. Jessica was not amused. She opened her mouth to comment on it when-

"Oy, Henry! I bet you I can brew my potion faster than you can!" Alex called from across the room.

Henry gave Jessica and Jake a guilty grin as he turned invisible, shouting, "Not if I can help it, Alex!"

Jessica let out a frustrated roar, heading in the direction of Beth and Alex. Watching the family, Jake began to worry for them. He wished his dream had never happened. He couldn't believe the three of them might in danger, or that anyone in this camp could be. Who would harm innocent children?

Shaking his head, he set off in the direction of the potion ingrediants. This birthday was turning out to be a bittersweet one.
