That night everyone got assigned a house. Due to not wanting to be completely separated, some of us grouped with people, including me. Rick, Michonne, Carl and Judith, Maggie and Glenn, and so on. Daryl and I grouped up in the house with my garage. Though, I was pretty sure Daryl wasn't going to be around much. He would wander and head outside the walls a lot. I had thrown my stuff into my room, and headed downstairs. Daryl had hidden himself in his room already. It was late and he was probably sleeping by now. I tried to fall asleep, but I couldn't get Rick's words out of my head. We'll take this place. We would most likely win, but at what cost? What did Rick mean? Would we kill everyone and take the place as our own? Or would we just overthrow Deanna?
Figuring I might as well get something done, if I wasn't going to sleep, I headed down into my garage to continue working on the car. I was almost done by now. I just needed to straighten a few more things out and then I could move onto another car. I decided against the walkman and popped the hood to work on the engine. Grabbing the tools I needed, I got to work.
By morning, I had moved to working under the car again. I only had about one or two more hours of work. People had started to wake up and get to work. I heard footsteps come up to the side of the car. Looking over, I saw a pair of worn down boots. I rolled out from under the car and looked up at the man squinting, thanks to the sun glaring in my eyes. Once they adjusted I saw Daryl standing there.
"Rick wants to meet us outside the walls."
I nodded as I sat up. Daryl extended his hand to help me up and I took it. I pulled down the garage door and locked it, along with the house door. Daryl and I headed outside the walls. Daryl filled me in along the way. Rick wanted to get our guns back. Rick was already waiting with Carol. Two walkers were dead next to them. We could hear another walker coming in the distance. Daryl glanced around for it.
"I don't see it, but it's close. There's just one of 'em."
"We won't be here long." Rick responded. "So what do you think?"
"We can go in when it's empty." Carol suggested.
"How? It's locked at night." I asked.
"The window. There's just a latch. I can leave it open."
"A latch?" Rick questioned.
"Yeah." Carol nodded.
"What if one of those pricks shuts it?" Daryl asked.
"Wait a couple of days, leave it open again."
Now would be a good time to mention my gun, wouldn't it? Still, I was starting to like Deanna. She seemed like she knew how to handle people well and if we started something they would all be on her side for sure. I should keep my gun quiet for a little while longer. I needed to know exactly what Rick had planned. The sound of the walker getting closer drew me from my thoughts.
"It's getting closer." Daryl slightly walked towards the walker's direction.
"We need to do it sooner than later. Right now, they're not watching us. Not worrying about meetings like this. We may need the guns, we may not." Rick looked at Carol.
"We will whatever way it goes." Carol nodded, agreeing.
"They're the luckiest damn people I ever met and they just keep getting luckier."
"How's that?" I asked, looking at Rick.
"We're here now."
I bit my tongue. Rick was letting his ego get in his way of judgement. I looked over to Daryl who looked as though he wanted to say something. Rick had saved us all more times then we could count, we couldn't easily go against what he said.
