Nova POV
"so you're not going to like what I am going to tell you." Rayna gave me a look as I was sitting in her office.
It's been almost a week since that whole incident happened, and thankfully, Sean hasn't been back. But unfortunately, he wasn't lying about trying to take me to court. I got the papers two days ago. About five days later, he threatened me. I don't think I cried as much as I did that day.
"there's nothing we can do? Jayden is terrified of him," I pleaded.
"it's going to be hard, and he pays child support. I know he will never get full custody. But he's going to get some type of partial. Unless we have a prop that he's unfit," she informed me.
"so him showing up unannounced to my house and screaming at my son doesn't count for nothing?" I was getting worked up.
"it's going to be a long process, but I promise you I am going to try my hardest," she says, and I sigh. I know I can't take my anger out on her.
"It's not fair; I never should have texted him that night." I placed my hands on my face.
"Nova, you know that you had to try one last time. Heck, I probably would have done the same thing." she tried to assure me.
I sighed. I wanted to scream and cry and just run away. But I know that's not possible.
"what am I going to do, Ray?" I couldn't help but choke back a cry.
"oh honey," she sighed and came around and wrapped me in her arms.
I just cried in her arms; I honestly haven't had a chance to let it out. Expect that first night in Trey's arms.
"it's going to be okay," she was trying to help me.
"ugh, I am being a baby." I whipped my eyes, and I know I probably have raccoon eyes now.
"you're not being a baby; you're being human." she handed me a box of Kleenex.
"Thanks," I sniffled and whipped under my eyes to try and get rid of the makeup a bit.
"what are you doing later tonight?" she asked.
"not a whole lot, I was just going to make dinner for Jayden and me. I don't know if Trey is coming," I tell her.
"Well, I might stop by then," she grinned.
"right, Jayden has been missing you." I know he has cause he asked about her last night.
"well then, it's official I am going to stop by then," she said.
"right, I will set you a place," I tell her and stand up from the chair.
"take it easy, okay?" she smiled at me.
"I will try." I really would, but it's going to be hard.
I pulled out my phone and called Trey; I needed to talk to him.
"hey babe," he answered the phone with a cheerful voice.
"Hey, are you busy? I can call back." I was trying to keep my voice level.
"Nah, why don't you stop by? That way, I can see you for a bit?" he suggested.
"You sure?" I didn't want to bug.
"of course," he says.
"Alright, I will be there in like fifteen," I tell him.
"Okay, see you soon," I say, then hang up.
I drove to the centre and couldn't help but admire how beautiful it looked from the outside. I can only imagine what the inside looks like. And it was just as amazing as the outside.
