"Good afternoon, class!" Madam Hooch exclaims.
"Good afternoon, Madam Hooch," Everyone in the class greets, not as enthused as the Professor.
"Welcome to your first flying lesson," She announces. "Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of their broomstick. Come on now, hurry up. Stick your right hand over the broom and say, up!"
"Up!" Aurora exclaims and then the broom shoots up into her hand. Her eyes widen and Draco glares at her. Of course it flies up for her, her dad was one of the best Quidditch players of all time.
"Nicely done, Aurora!" Madam Hooch compliments the blonde girl who smiles contently.
"Up!" Harry exclaims and the broom flies into his hand as well. Draco glares at the boy for the second time in the day. Hermione stares at her two friends. How on earth did they get it that quickly?
"Up!" Draco exclaims once more and the broom flies to his hand. He smirks smugly at Aurora, who rolls her eyes. "What's the matter, Watson?"
"Eff off, Malfoy," She groans.
"With feeling!" Hooch tells the students who haven't gotten their brooms.
"Up, Up, Up. Up!" Hermione commands to no avail.
"Up!" Ron shouts and his broom comes up and hits him in the nose. "Ouch." Aurora and Harry start to laugh. "Shut up!" He then begins to laugh as well.
"Now, once you've got hold of your broom, I want you to mount it. And grip it tight, you don't want to be sliding off the end," Madam Hooch tells the class. Aurora excitedly mounts her broom and holds the broom tight. "When I blow my whistle, I want each of you to kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your broom steady, hover for a moment, and then lean forward slightly and touch back down. On my whistle...3...2..."
As she blows the whistle, Neville's broomstick begins to lift off the ground. He starts babbling in fear.
"Oh, no," Aurora sighs.
"Mr. Longbottom," Hooch warns.
"Neville, what are you doing?" Sally asks.
"Help!" Neville screams.
"Come back down this instant!" Hooch exclaims.
Aurora sighs. Can't she see that he isn't in control? Aurora grips the broom and kicks off.
"Miss Watson! What are you doing? Get back here!" Hooch shouts at the girl.
"No can do, Madam Hooch. I'm helping a friend!" Aurora exclaims
Neville then hits a wall, hitting his wrist in the process, and then the broom flies back towards the students. Aurora chases after him. He then passes a statue that has a huge spear which takes hold of his cloak, yanking him back. His cloak begins to rip. Hermione bites her nails as Aurora zooms to him. His cloak then rips and he begins to fall, but then Aurora swoops in and grabs his hand, the one that wasn't hit against the wall. She makes the broom stay in place and pulls him on. The whole class cheers for the girl and chants her name. She flies down to the rest of the class.
"Everyone, out of the way!" Hooch shouts, making her way to Aurora and Neville.
"My wrist hurts," Neville sighs, holding onto the wrist that he had hit against the wall.
"Oh, no. Its broken," Hooch sighs. She then angrily turns to Aurora. "That was way out of line, Miss Watson."
"What was I supposed to do? My friend was in a dangerous situation, you didn't realize, and I went to help him since you weren't taking action," Aurora states folding her arms. Some students widen their eyes as they see the way Aurora was talking to the teacher.
"Miss Watson! How dare you!" She shouts. She grabs Aurora's hand and then Neville's hand that isn't broken. "Neville, I'm taking you to the nurse, and Aurora, you're in serious trouble."
Aurora rolls her eyes as Madam Hooch drags her along. They then cross paths with Professor McGonagall, who has Harry with her.
"Madam Hooch, may I borrow Aurora?" McGonagall asks.
"I'm afraid not, she's in massive trouble," Hooch replies.
"I'm aware of what she's done, however I believe she didn't have any ill intent and was just trying to help her friend," McGonagall exclaims. Aurora grins at the head of her house. "Now, please, I have some important stuff I need to do." McGonagall takes hold of Aurora's hand, yanking it from Madam Hooch, and leads her in the opposite direction. Finally, the three of them stop in front of Quirrell's classroom.
"You wait here," McGonagall tells them.
"What did you do?" Aurora asks Harry.
"Draco took Neville's Remembrall and tried to hide it. All I was doing was getting it back," Harry explains.
"I don't see how either of us could've ever been in the wrong," Aurora shakes her head.
"Professor Quirrell, excuse me, excuse me. Could I borrow Wood for a moment, please?" McGonagall asks.
Wood?! Is she gonna hit us? Do they still have corporal punishment here? Dad didn't mention that!
"Oh. Y-yes, of course," Quirrell nods.
Just then, a boy, who Aurora thought was pretty cute, came out.
"Potter, Watson, this is Oliver Wood. Wood, I have found you a Seeker and a Chaser!"
Oliver looked at the two first years with a smile.◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤
"Seeker and Chaser?" Ron asks. "But first years never make their house teams! You two must be the youngest Quidditch players in..."
"About 26 years!" Harry exclaims proudly.
"According to McGonagall," Aurora adds.
"Hey, well done, guys, Wood's just told us!" Fred exclaims and ruffles Aurora's hair.
"Fred!" Aurora shouts and swats his hands with a laugh.
"I always knew you could do it, Rory," He grins. She smiles up at him.
"Fred and George are on the team, too," Ron tells Harry. "Beaters."
"Our job is to make sure that you don't get bloodied up too bad," George explains to the boy as he wraps his arm around Aurora. "Can't make any promises, of course. Rough game, Quidditch."
"Brutal. But no one's died in years. Someone will vanish occasionally..." Fred trails.
"But they'll turn up in a month or two!" George exclaims. The two twins then walk off.
"Oh, go on, guys, Quidditch is great. Best game there is! And you'll be great, too!" Ron exclaims.
Hermione then jumps up and joins the conversation
"But I've never even played Quidditch. What if I make a fool of myself?" Harry asks.
"You won't make a fool of yourself. It's in your blood," Hermione states and leads Ron, Aurora, and Harry to a trophy case. "Aurora your father was the youngest quidditch player ever recorded, of course now it's you and Harry."
"Whoa. Harry, you never told me your father was a Seeker, too!" Ron exclaims as he examines the trophy case. "Woah! Look! Aurora's grandfather was a seeker too!"
"I-I didn't know," Harry sighs.
Hermione then walks off and Aurora follows her, Harry and Ron follow suit as well. As they walk up the stairs, the stairs begin to move.
"What's happening?" Harry panics as he grips a railing.
"The staircases change, remember?" Hermione asks. Then, the stairs stop moving.
"It's super inconvenient," Aurora shakes her head. They all then walk down a corridor and then see a door. Hermione opens it to see a scary-looking, dark corridor.
"Does anyone feel like...we shouldn't be here?" Harry asks.
"We're not supposed to be here. This is the 3rd floor. It's forbidden," Hermione explains. Just then, a torch lights up and then Mrs.Norris saunters in. She meows and Harry, Ron, and Hermione jump. Aurora bends down and tries to pet Mrs.Norris, only to get scratched by the cat.
"Ow!" She yelps.
"Aurora, let's go!" Harry grabs her hand. They all begin to run and then they get to a door.
"Quick! Let's hide though that door!" Harry suggests, he goes to open it, but only sees that it's locked. "It's locked!"
"That's it, we're done for!" Ron whines.
"Oh, move over!" Hermione exclaims. She pulls out her wand and points it at the lock. She waves the wand around and recites a spell. "Alohomora." The door then unlocks. "Get in."
"Alohomora?" Ron asks.
"Standard book of spells, Chapter 7," Hermione replies.
"No time for that!" Aurora whispers. "Get in!"
The four kids file into the room and once they hear Filch walk away, they let out a sigh of relief.
"I think Filch is gone," Hermione states.
"Probably thinks this door's locked," Ron chuckles.
"It was locked," Hermione states.
"And for good reason," Harry whispers. Aurora turns around to see a three headed dog.
"Aww, it's so cute!" She grins.
Ron and Hermione turn around and see the dog. It then begins to wake up. Then it growls and notices the four of them standing there. It starts to charge.
"Not cute! Not cute!" Aurora shouts as they begin to run off. They dash out the door and once they close it, the three headed dog smashes into the door and lets out a whimper. The four kids make their way to the common room.
"What do they think they're doing? Keeping a thing like that locked up in a school," Ron scoffs.
"You don't use your eyes, do you?" Hermione rolls her eyes. "Didn't you see what it was standing on?"
"I wasn't looking at its feet!" Ron defends. "I was a bit preoccupied with its heads. Or maybe you didn't notice, there were three!"
The four of them start walking up the stairs in the direction of their dormitories.
"It was standing on a trap door. Which means it wasn't there by accident. It's guarding something," Hermione explains.
"Guarding something?" Harry asks.
"Hey, Harry, didn't you mention that Hagrid got something from the vault at Gringott's. Y'know the vault that was later broken into?" Aurora asks.
"Yeah..." Harry trails.
"What if that's what the dog, that had no right to be as cute as it was, was guarding?" Aurora suggests.
"Look, as good as a theory as that is, I'm going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed... or worse, expelled!" Hermione exclaims. She grabs Aurora's hand, opens the door to their dormitory and then goes in, closing the door.
"She needs to sort out her priorities," Ron sighs.
