"I'm half and half," Seamus mentions. "Me dad's a Muggle. Mam's a witch. Bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out."
"Oh, I'm a half-blood too. My dad is a wizard, though, and my mom's a muggle," Aurora adds on.
"Aurora, are you American?" Dean asks, and Aurora replies with a nod, cutting up a small piece of steak and putting it in her mouth. "So, why did you go to Hogwarts and not Ilvermorny?
"Because my dad went to Hogwarts," Aurora replies. "I grew up in America, but my family and I moved here last year so my parents could be closer to Hogwarts in case of emergency."
"Oh," he nods. "So you grew up in America?"
"Yup," She replies.

Eventually, Percy leads all the first years to the Gryffindor common room.
"Password?" The woman in the painting asks?
"Caput Draconis," Percy states proudly. The woman nods, and the painting swiftly swings open. "Follow me, everyone. Keep up, quickly, come on. Gather 'round here. Welcome to the Gryffindor Common Room. Boy's dormitories, upstairs and down to your left. Girls, the same on your right. You'll find that your belongings have already been brought up."
"You got it, Percy Jackson," Aurora salutes him. Percy softly chuckles with a smile playing on his lips. He immediately shakes it off and heads to his dormitory.

Aurora and Hermione sit next to each other in the Transfiguration classroom. They write down what is written on the board, as per Professor McGonagall's request. Just then, Ron and Harry burst into the room quite loudly.
"Whew, we made it," Ron sighs with relief. "Can you imagine the look on old McGonagall's face if we were late?"
Just then, McGonagall, who was in the form of a cat, jumps off the table she was resting on and transfigures back to her human born.
"That was bloody brilliant!" Ron exclaims.
"Thank you for that assessment, Mr. Weasley," McGonagall rolls her eyes. "Perhaps if I were to transfigure Mr. Potter and yourself into a pocket watch, that way one of you might be on time."
"We got lost," Harry explains, looking down at the floor.
"Then perhaps a map?" McGonagall asks. "I trust you don't need one to find your seats." She gestures to the only two empty seats in the room.
Aurora softly chuckles, and Draco looks at her with a glare.

Snape opens the door to the potions classroom dramatically. He speeds over to the front of the room, his cape flying in the wind.
"There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class," He announces monotonously. "As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper in death." He then takes notice of Harry Potter scribbling stuff in his notebook. "Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confidant enough to not... pay... attention." Hermione nudges Harry, who then looks up at Professor Snape. Snape walks closer to Harry. "Mr. Potter. Our... new... celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Hermione and Aurora raise their hands in sync. Harry looks at the two girls next to him, feeling intimidated. He looks at Snape and shrugs. "You don't know? Well, let's try again. Where, Mr. Potter, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" Hermione and Aurora's hands wave a bit, but Snape ignores it.
"I don't know, sir," Harry sighs and looks down.
"And what is the difference between monkshood and wolfbane?" Snape persists in pushing the boy.
"I don't know, sir," Harry says once more.
"Pity. Clearly, fame isn't everything..." Snape trails, and Draco smirks and looks back at Harry. Aurora sees his smirk and glares at Draco. "Is it, Mr. Potter?"
"Clearly, Aurora and Hermione know. Since it's a pity not to ask them," Harry states.
Everyone in the room laughs, except Draco, Hermione, and Aurora. Aurora takes a hint and slowly brings her hand down from the air, but Hermione keeps hers high.
"Silence," Snape shouts at the laughing students. He turns back to Harry with a glare. He then turns his head to Aurora. "And put your hand down, you silly girl." Then he turns to Harry again. "For your information, Potter... asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful, it is known as the Draught of Living Death. A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat, and it will save you from most poisons. As for monkshood and wolfsbane, they are the same plant, which also goes by the name of aconite." Aurora writes that down, though she already knew it, and Snape feels a slight smile tug at his lips. He then sees everyone else not writing. "Well? Why aren't you all copying this down?" Everyone else begins to write again. "And Gryffindors, note that five points will be taken from your house... for your classmate's cheek."

"Eye of rabbit, harp string hum. Turn this water into rum," Seamus recites, waving his wand around at the cup. He looks inside and sighs with disappointment. "Eye of rabbit, harp string hum..."
"What's Seamus trying to do to that glass of water?" Harry asks Ron and Aurora.
"Turn it into rum," Aurora replies as she reads The Summer I Turned Pretty.
"Actually managed a weak tea yesterday, before-" Ron is cut off by an explosion. Aurora lifts her head from the book and looks at Seamus.
"Ooo," she grimaces.
Then a bunch of owls fly in and drop the mail.
"Ah. Mail's here!" Ron exclaims.
Aurora picks up the small package that landed in front of her. She opens it and sees a beautiful locket. She grins and opens it to see a picture of her family and then a little message.

                   I love you always,
mom

She closes the locket and puts the chain around her neck.
"Hey, Harry," she turns to the boy.
"Yeah?" he looks at her.
"Could you clip this for me?" She asks kindly.
He pauses for a second and then looks at the girl, who has a hopeful gaze in her eyes. "Of course," He grins. How could I say no?
She holds the clip in place and turns her back to Harry. He takes hold of the clip, his hand kind of touching hers. He feels a shock and starts to blush. Aurora lifts her hair out of the way, and the scent of her conditioner hits him in the face. He thought it smelled enchanting. He clips the chain together and then sets it down gently. Draco took notice of this exchange and felt his blood boil.
"Thank you, Harry," She grins at him.
"Y-You're welcome, Rory," He smiles back.
Neville opens his package to see a glass sphere with a gold circle around it.
"Hey, look! Neville's got a Remembrall!" Dean exclaims.
"I've read about those. When the smoke turns red-" Hermione is cut off by the smoke in Neville's Remembrall turning red. "It means you've forgotten something."
"The only problem is, I can't remember what I've forgotten," Neville sighs. Aurora chuckles softly and pats his shoulder.
"Don't worry, Neville. I'm sure you'll remember soon," She assures the boy.
"Hey, Ron, somebody broke into Gringotts; listen!" Harry exclaims. He then begins to read the article. "Believed to be the work of dark witches or wizards unknown, Gringotts goblins, while acknowledging the breach, insist that nothing was taken. The vault in question, number 713, had in fact been emptied earlier that same day." Harry looks up from the newspaper to Ron. "That's odd. That's the vault Hagrid, and I went to."
"Freaky..." Aurora Trails.
