The modern-day was still odd after three days.
Waking up for the second time was more relaxed, she knew more than she did from the restless night before.
She always seem confused when she woke up, mainly since Sofia hadn't woken up in 70 years. Her confusion only lasted a moment however, she allowed her genius mind to catch up with her and realize what happened.
Every night, instead of sleeping, Bucky would lay beside her. Staring. He didn't want to close his eyes at the fear of when they re-opened, she wouldn't be there anymore.
Every morning when Sofia woke up in her confused daze, Bucky would sit up beside her, running his hands through her hair and soothing her worries.
"Hey, darling you're okay, your safe with me.." He said, pulling her close and laying her back down.
"Good morning.." She smiled at him.
How he missed that smile.
"Morning, sweetheart.." Bucky smiled, kissing her forehead, "You look great in my t-shirt.."
"Oh, it's very cosy, very comfy. Like your shirts, I used to sleep in many moons ago.." Sofia smiled, pushing herself closer to him.
"I was thinking, that you need some modern-day clothes. I know you enjoy my t-shirts but, we should get you something nice too.." Bucky smiled as he sat in the bed, looking for another shirt to put on.
"Do you have to put that on?" She smiled as he got out of bed and looked at her with a smile.
"If you want breakfast, I have to put it on.." He leaned over the bed and kissed her before leaving the room.
Eventually, Sofia rolled out of the bed, put a blanket over herself and left for the kitchen. To her, the tower was like a maze, so many corridors that others had simply memorized.
After getting lost, many times, she accidentally bumped into someone.
"Oh my, I'm sorry.." Sofia looked up to see who she had run into.
Tony Stark
"No, I'm sorry.." The man replied.
She couldn't help but notice how similar he was to his father, her best friend. Howard had passed on his brain as well, she knew that, if he had been able to find her then he was his father's son.
"I never formally thanked you for saving me, I know your father would be proud.." She comforted him.
"You don't need to thank me, I did it for Bucky and Steve, also for Howard. He was a bit of a-"
"Jackass?" She interrupted.
"Yeah.." He slightly laughed, "A bit of a jackass.."
There was a small silence as neither knew exactly what to say.
"Let me walk you to Barnes, he will be waiting for you.." Tony spoke, leading the way.
"What do you think about him, about Bucky?" Sofia asked.
"Barnes is better when you are around, it's clear to me. He never showed much emotion until we badgered him for information, then he spilt his heart wide open to us. I know now that you were the only thing in his heart.." Tony spoke as the pair walked through the halls.
"Buck was always a complicated man, so Steve would say. I just knew him as the soft, lovable soldier that never wanted war. He and Howard got along over the fact they both believed I worked too much.." She smiled at him as they approached the kitchen.
"Howard talked about you in his journals, he liked you a lot.." Tony said as they stood in the arch.
"I would like to read them sometime, if you don't mind?" Sofia asked.
"I'll pass them on to you.." He smiled before walking away.
I turned to see Bucky in his own little world, cooking breakfast with his hair tied back into a bun. He was humming a tune to himself as he moved his hips from side to side. In his back pocket sat a novel, closed over so you could only see the blurb on the back.
Sofia wrapped her arms around his waist, standing on the tips of her toes to be able to place a kiss on his cheek.
"That better be the woman I love, not anyone trying to screw with me.." Bucky smirked, turning his head to allow the pair's lips to meet.
"Hey, sweetheart.." She mumbled as Bucky briefly moved away from his cooking to pay attention to his fiancé.
She made herself a distraction to him with her love and when the moment was right, she grabbed the book from, much to his dismay.
"Sof, you give me that back!" He called out although it was too late.
"Murder on the Oriente Express.." She muttered as she held the book in her hand.
She opened it up and noticed something dropped out of it. She bent down picked it up, her eye tearing up as she held it.
"You kept hold of it?" She asked, looking up at him.
"Steve found me it. When I got my mind back, I didn't know how to go on without you. Now, I don't have to.." He said, holding onto her and placing a kiss on her forehead.
"My God, you really are obsessed with me!" Sofia joked.
"Oh shut up, you love me!"
