Jump Serve.
He had it all prepared: the courage, the strategy, the question. He knew there was a slim chance that you'd agree with his incredulous request; after all, you had been distancing yourself from him quite frequently these past few days. All around him, girls squealed and begged for his attention, which he returned politely out of nature. But he couldn't help missing your presence beside him, couldn't help but miss that annoyed look on your face because he knew that all the insane madness was disgusting in your mind.
A chuckle escaped his lips before he could stop it, earning him looks of confusion. Luckily, he was used to this; ever since you had plagued his mind, he found more and more ways to shrug off a slip of the tongue. He merely tilted his head and grinned, thanking all the girls for their kindness but excusing himself because he had to go to class. There was swooning, and he had to push his way out of the tight circle, pushing his way to class.
"Oi, Assikawa!" Oikawa turned around with a sigh, grinning at his friend who was approaching him with an ever-present look on his face. "Where do you think you're going?"
For a second, Oikawa looked lost before he connected the dots and figured out what Iwaizumi was hinting at. His eyes widen in disbelief. "I can't believe I forgot! Ah, sorry, Iwa-chan. I'll head to the gym now."
Iwaizumi lingered his gaze, before grunting unsatisfactorily. He hit the palm of his hand against the back of Oikawa's head. "Don't be late; Mizoguchi-coach said it won't take long."
Oikawa nodded, watching as Iwaizumi stalked off to who-knows-where. Oikawa envied him a bit; you were still talking to him, but you wanted nothing to do with him. It was unfair; didn't the two of you have something special?
"Must be in my head," he decided, before walking after Iwaizumi to meet for a quick morning practice.

"{y/n}-chan, sit with us, okay?" your friend asked, grinning as she looped her hand in her boyfriend's. On the inside, you could feel the green monster jarring; why had she resolved her problems, and you haven't?
You smiled nonetheless, making up your mind. "Ah, sorry, {friend's name}," you apologised, ducking your head slightly. "I have to go find Oikawa-kun today."
"Eh? You and Oikawa-san are talking again?" she asked, her eyes lighting up. You knew she was secretly obsessed with the setter, despite her constant denial in hopes of keeping her boyfriend.
"Something like that," you replied, smiling. "I'll see you later!" You waved, walking down the halls towards Oikawa's class, trying to steady your beating heart that shook your ribcage. You took slow, small breaths, closing your eyes, hoping you wouldn't collapse at the sight of him, or worse, run away.
His classroom loomed in front of you, and you hesitantly pushed the door open. Chattering students swarmed inside, and for right now, your presence went undetected. Shyly, uncharacteristically, you stepped inside without so much a shout or an angry face, but with a blush on your cheeks, teeth biting your bottom lip. Eyes turned to look at you in bewilderment. You pushed those looks away and approached your target.
"Oikawa-kun," you mumbled, and at the sound of your voice, his gaze snapped towards you, eyes widening at your sudden arrival. You mentally slapped yourself, angry that you hadn't thought ahead. Now what?
Oikawa simply grinned, eyes sparkling as though he had just gotten his Christmas present early. "{y/n}-chan!" The way his eyes glimmered told you something was clicking into place in his mind. "I'm so glad you came!"
"Uh-huh," you agreed, nodding absentmindedly. His words shot through your ear. Wait, what?
"About that request I told you about..."
What request?!
"Would you like to go on a date with me?"
Your eyes widen. Did he... Had he... Did he just ask you out? You swallowed, listening as tension built in the room, every single student waiting for your answer. Your voice trembled. "I-I, uh, um-maybe-argh-I don't know-" Spit out an answer, already, {y/n}! "Yes?" you squeaked, and closed your eyes in fear.
A cricket could've equaled to a concert crowd in this deafening silence, and you waited for Oikawa to take his words back. Fearfully, you peeked your eye open. Oikawa was grinning like a madman. "Okay, then! I'll pick you up at seven!"
You nodded, before hurriedly walking out of the classroom, face completely red. Once you were out of his sight, you breathed a sigh of relief. Then, everything started sinking in.
Oh, crap.
