*Author's Note: For clarification, since I haven't said anything sooner, Jericho's actual date of birth is on Sunday. They're having the party on Saturday so it can go through the night since, for werewolves, everything important regarding their 18th happens at midnight.
Jackson's POV
I hate this. My dad sent me out on important business that was supposed to be a quick day trip. It ended up turning into something more causing me to stay in Seattle Friday night and work through most of Saturday, today. I have no idea when this alpha that I'm meeting with will let me go. I didn't realize that signing an agreement about training camps had to do with wanting me to meet his daughter because "you never know, maybe she's your mate!" I don't know how, but I knew whomever the alpha's daughter was, she wasn't my mate.
My wolf was restless all day, he wouldn't leave me alone and I felt like I was going to burst with energy. I needed to wrap this up, him droning on about how amazing joining our packs would be, I knew he only wanted that because we were one of the strongest pack anywhere nearby. There were some who rivaled us in number but wouldn't dare challenge us, everyone knew how strong our fighters were, and how fearless.
"Alpha Richardson, it would be my pleasure to set up a time and date for my father and I to visit your pack, however, I have prior arrangements for tonight back on my pack grounds. If you would please sign the typed agreement about allowing your wolves to come train with us this spring I will be on my way and have our beta contact you immediately to talk about a visitation." I smile at the alpha across the table, hoping he'll get the hint and hurry this up. I looked at my watch, already 7:30pm. I'm gonna be late to Jericho's party and I wasn't even able to tell her beforehand.
"Of course, my apologies Jackson." My smiled tightened as he didn't use my title. Technically my father was still reigning alpha, but since I was the one here making the arrangements, the least he could do it treat me with respect, instead of pretending I'm a child. I was the one, after all, that had responded to him when he first reached out as well as who wrote up the dumb paper that sat between us on the table. He reached over and finally signed with the pen he put behind his ear before he went on his whole 'maybe my daughter is your mate' conversation.
As soon as he was done signing his name I swept the paper into my briefcase and walked around the table before shaking his hand. "Great doing business with you. We'll be in touch." I smiled tightly and held my ground, slightly turning so my hand was above his in our shake. His smile wavered, noticing this, as I left the room. Grabbing my phone from my pocket I quickly dial Ethan, "Hey Ethan, do you know who my father sent out to get me? I think he's in a meeting so I didn't wanna bother him." The only people I had on my work phone were my father, my beta, Ethan, my father's beta, Harold, the pack trainer and head warrior, Scott, and any clients my father had me deal with. Occasionally another number would be added for security reasons, but most of the time I stayed under 5 contacts.
"I actually think he sent my dad, but I'm not sure. I haven't seen him around today so I assume so, but I'd call him just in case. If not let me know and I can go talk to your dad in the meeting." Harold was also Ethan's dad, which made it easy to know when one or the other was off doing something for either my father or I.
"Alrighty, I'll call your dad. Talk to you later man. Hopefully I make it there soon. Can you let Jericho know I am so sorry I'm gonna miss the beginning of her party? Hopefully not all of it. That would suck."
"Yeah man, also remember, it's a formalish event. Like the girls are wearing floor length gowns. If you aren't already wearing a suit, I'd put one on before showing up. Anyways, I'll let you loose, let me know what my dad says." We say our goodbyes and hang up. I immediately ring Harold while I walk back to my hotel that was just across the street from the office we have in Seattle.
