Ch.39

"Free ball!!"

"Natsumi comes from the back to take care of the chance ball. Fuyumi with the set, is she going for another slide with Mei Okawa?"

Kimika eyes shift from Mei to Akari who's going for an approach already as Rika gets completely juked by following Mei on the right. She jumps to her usual spot from the spiker on the left as Amaya tries to line up with Akari, however, she lined up with her right as Kimika dives after the ball hits the court. Again.

"Woah! Another one-on-one kill from Akari!"

Kimika pursed her lips as she can feel her blockers getting confused and frustrated. Especially, Amaya who cranes her neck while landing from blocking. Kimika waves it off, trying to lighten the mood and encourage her teammates to stay in it as they got into serve receive. Kimika was on the left side and her eyes are focusing in on the server. She relaxed her feet and her body to react to anything.

"One pass!" Miyoko calls out. The whistle blows as she wasted no time to bounce the ball and the ball floats over the net. Amaya reacts late as the ball meets her hands above her face and Kimika chased after it before they sent another free ball.

"Got it!" Natsumi was there already and passed with ease. The blockers didn't put up the best block as the ball went to Akari again. Kimika got it up with more effort as she falls on her knee before watching Miyoko coming from the back to set up Hanami. With the Wohi Twins in the back row, where could she hit it and score points?

"2 up! 2 up!" Kimika calls as she and Rika both covered near her while the rest fans out in the corners. Hanami hits and the ball goes off the block and down on their side.

"Inarizaki's ace, Hanami Fujimoto has scored her second kill in this new set! We have our wonders and expectations on how she'll play a big part in Inarizaki's offense."

"Yeaaa!" Hanami smiles and cheers as Momo high fives her. Emiko smiles and claps on the bench before running in to switch with Kimika.

"I need an ace. I need an ace." Rika mutters under her breath as she can hear Kazane and Sora cheering on the bench. She looked at the other side and see her one target that she's always been serving to.

Performing a float serve, she though she got an ace after watching the ball get shanked by Mei but Fuyumi doesn't use her arms as she jump sets back to Mei behind her to go quick. Emiko who does read blocking, touched it as Rika tries to get behind it up it gets ricocheted off of her instead.

"Dammit." Rika clenches her jaw as she didn't need to turn back to the net to see Mei, a 3rd year with more experience, glancing at her before turning back to her team. She high fives Kimika before venting that small play to Kazane and Sora, not in the Kansai Dialect. She looks at the score and it's 18 serving 14. "She's so short. I want to block her." They all watched Akari who's on the net while her sister is serving.

Fuyumi does a float serve and it touches the top of the net which Miyoko gets it up high for Kimika. Amaya takes a step back to get ready for the set while Hanami and Emiko does as well. She faces where she sets, so the ball travels to Amaya. She smiled and felt confident she'll get a kill again. Her eyes quickly glanced at the block in front of her which made her hit the ball off their hands.

"Touch!!" Akari continued to look up as the ball is high above the net. "Yuzuri!" She watches her underclassman teammate go up and joused with Emiko who feints above her block. Akari covers it and gets ready to hit. Fuyumi jump sets back to Asami who aimed for the corner where Miyoko had to come out of her base defense to keep the ball alive. "Set's out! Set's out!"

"Kimika!!"

"Mine!!"

"Cover!"

It was another rally. And just so happens, Akari finishes it again by hitting a line-shot to Miyoko who shanks the ball out of bounds. Miyoko scrunches her face in frustration as Shiratorizawa celebrates.
