"I'm so nervous!" I fanned myself with my hands as Mikayla finished doing the back of my dress. Daisha placed the flower crown on my head. "That's okay! Just take deep breathes and enjoy it." Mikayla says, straightening my flower crown. "Ok.." I breathed in, then out. "Now go on!" I didn't have my mother or father to walk me down the aisle, so I walked out myself. The music played. I looked forward at Jordan, His suit was perfect, his eyes were glazed with love. I reached the end of the aisle and stood infront of Jordan. "A new pair is added to our pack today." Ross spoke calmly. "Through sickness and health, in sunshine and rain, until the earth claims you again, do you Jordan scott Anders, take lovely Alex mist Reiz, as your wedded wife?" Jordan smiled. "I do." Ross repeated the same to me. "I do." I whispered. "Then under the greatness of our moon goddess unite!" With that, Jordan kissed me. Fire exploded in my heart. Jordan just held me as everyone else filed out for the party. Finally Jordan grasped my hand and led me out to the party. "You look amazing darling!" Linda hugged me. Mr. Anders dipped his head. "Congratulations." I blinked over at Jordan. "Do they know?" I asked. He shook his head. "We need to make an announcement!" Jordan clapped loudly, gaining everyone's attention. "First of all, We would like to thank everyone for coming. We have big news to share. In three months we will have a new member added to the family!" Everyone looked happy. I rested my hand on my slightly swollen stomach lovingly. The pack seems delighted by the news, and I was grateful. I made my way over to the food, lined up in an array of colors, flavors, and sizes. So much to eat! I made myself a plate and sat down with my friends. "HELP SOMEONE HELP!" Ross was howling in despair as his mate lay unconscious on the ground. Jordan ran forward and assisted Ross as they brought Kate to the healers. I looked on, startled by the sudden scene. "Are you alright Alex?" Mikayla asked. "I'm fine..what just happened?" I began to tremble. "I don't know. She just fainted, but I'm sure she'll be alright."
I ran over to Jordan as soon as he got home. "You never came back to our wedding!" I cried. "I'm sorry..Ross wouldn'tet me go." His voice was solemn. I could tell something was wrong. "She's dead. The healers managed to save the pup though. It's a baby girl, Ross named her Kate." Jordan hugged me. Everything was so perfect..then this? "The healers said she was poisoned." I gasped. "Did it happen at our wedding!?" I panicked. "No. They found an odd bite mark on her. A chemical was in her blood too." Jordan explained, Setting me on the bed. "Why did everything have to go so wrong?" I sobbed. The pain of losing a pack member was hurting me more than anything else. Thunder roared outside. "They say it's lucky for it to storm on your wedding day." Jordan said softly, wiping tears from my face. "And we're lucky that Baby Kate managed to survive.." I trembled, and sobbed Into his shirt. "Do they know who poisoned her?" He shook his head. "Not yet. They're on it." I just gripped his shirt tighter and sobbed. "Shhh...." he whispered into my ear. "You need to be happy for our baby." He chuckled softly, holding me close. "Ok." I whimpered.
"Wake up!" Jordan yelled. I leaped awake. "What!? What's happening!?" I shouted back. "The territory is flooding! Ross wont respond to anyone's mind link!!" Jordan scooped me up and ran downstairs. "We can't stay in the pack house. It may collapse." He was running as fast as he could. "Where are we going to go then?" I asked, clinging to his chest. "To the nearby pack." He panted. We burst outside. Water whirled at Jordan's knees. I squeaked in fear, and my mate hugged me closer. Dozens of our pack members were running through the flood waters, gripping their mates or children. I could hear people calling out to Alpha and Beta Jake. No answers. Daniel was running, clutching a small baby to his chest. "Daniel! Is that Kate? Where is Ross!?" Jordan howled. "I dont know! I found kate on the ground!" Daniel called back. We finally made it to the next pack's territory. The healer looked everyone over, even Jordan and I, despite the fact that we felt no pain. "How far along are you Ma'am?" The healer asked me. "Two months." I responded. Werewolves only stayed pregnant for 4 months before giving birth. "We're putting you on bed rest until the shock eases." I growled. "What!?" The healer sighed. "Just head down the path on the left to our pack house." Jordan nodded, scooped me up, and ran up to our makeshift room. The bed squeaked as I sat down. "We're going to be ok right?" I ask. Jordan doesn't answer my question. "I'm going to take a shower." He leaves the room to find the men's shower house. I put my hand on my stomach. Dont worry baby. A knock on the door startles me. "Come in." I say. Daniel walks in looking a bit sad. "Alex? Can you come walk with me..I didn't know who else to ask.." he mumbles. "Oh, sure!" I walked beside the young omega as we headed just outside the pack boundaries. "I'm sorry Alex." Daniel shoves a strange powder into my face, cutting off my mind links. "HEY!" I snarl as he tied my hands and feet together. After he finished that, he shoved moss into my mouth. "I have to do this. I'll die if I don't." Daniel murmured. "Sorry." Then he shifted and ran off. "DMMML!" (Daniel) I tried to call out. I gagged, attempting to spit the moss out. Scaping out the area to see if I could free myself with anything, I found a sharp glass shard. The flood waters were rising. I finally spat the moss out, and began to rip at the rope. One of my hands popped loose, and I grabbed the glass. I cut through the ropes on my feet and stood up. The water was at my ankles. I shoved the glass into my pocket and took off running.
The sun was beginning to rise. I had been lost for hours now. My right wrist had lost circulation due to the rope around it that I was unable to cut. I jumped from tree to tree clumsily. The flood waters were still rising despite the fact that the rain had stopped.
I leaped for the next branch, landing on the ground instead. This is stupid, I'm jumping through trees, pregnant. What did I expect? I sighed. I began trudging through the water instead. I stumbled upon the ruins of our territory. The pack house was crumbled at the bottom, and I saw what was left of a mudslide. "Help.." I heard a weak voice call. I looked around and sprinted toward the mudslide. Ross was trapped under all the mud, only his head and an arm sticking out. "Hold on!" I pulled him out. "Alpha! What happened are you alright!?" I shook him lightly. "Jake came to warn me of the flood..and we tried to escape.." he rapsed a quick breath. "The land was too soft..it collapsed.." Ross coughed. "Jake died..protecting Kate.." I gasped, tears welling in my eyes. "Don't worry! I'll help you!" I propped Ross up on some wooden planks. "I'll find some leftover food or supplies!" I took of running. I was extremely slow, being two months out of four months pregnant. I burst through a window of the pack house. I rummaged through the room. I found a sheet, some canned food, and a knife. I ran back down to where I left Ross. "Here." I opened a can of pre-cooked beef. I handed a Ross the can. "No..save it for yourself. Why are you here?" He pushed the can towards me. I explained everything to Ross while I ate. "I- why would Daniel do something so awful?" He rasped. "He said he would die if he didnt." I replied. "So someone put him up to it." Ross growled. "Yeah." I put the sheet over him. "I'm sorry I failed as an alpha..and a friend..." Ross stumbled on his words. He cant be dying can he!? His wounds don't look fatal..something inside.. "Ross??" I felt tears slip down my cheeks. "Jordan...will be alpha again...take care of Kate.." he took a painful sounding rasp. "NO!!" I screamed. I tried to shake him awake, it was no use. I crashed to my knees crying. I cried for so long I ended up vomiting what i had eaten. I had failed, I had failed as a friend.
