After Lord Garmadon defeated the Great Devourer and fled from the scene along with the Ninja's Golden Weapons without a trace, his son, Lloyd Garmadon, had been in a right state.
Though he didn't let it show because he now has a duty to fulfil as the Green Ninja: he had to focus on his training.But... what training?
Ever since the Ninja lost their home, the Destiny's Bounty, during the Great Devourer's Attack, they really had nowhere else to stay. Okay, so they managed to find a nice hero's suite with the help of real estate agent Patty Keys, but it was so expensive that all the Ninja had to get jobs and were so busy with those jobs all the time just to keep up with rent. So they couldn't even aid Lloyd in his training. The young boy had often tried to train by himself but seeing as he had no idea what he was doing, he soon gave up.
Then after a kidnap attempt carried out by none other than Skales, General of the Hypnobrai Serpentine, which almost succeeded if not for Wu and Nya's intervention, they decided that it was better (and safer) to move into their dumpy, extremely cheap apartment so they could put all their focus on training and protecting Lloyd instead of running off to their various jobs all the time and leaving Lloyd in his lonesome.
This was when they assumed that things would fall into a "normal" routine... although it was hard for them to train Lloyd in such a tiny living space, they decided that it was the best they could do for now and that they'd try their hardest no matter what to help the young Green Ninja.
Master Wu was proud that they had reached this conclusion on their own and that they were already becoming responsible teachers in their own rights... but deep within his old soul, something felt off.
Wu was an old man. He'd lived in this world far longer than anyone would have guessed and knew that if he had a bad feeling, it was wise to face it head on rather than just ignore it.So one night, after they had already settled into their little apartment, Wu decided to meditate and consult his Spirit Smoke. The act of using Sprit Smoke was ancient, and sacred. It was a ritual passed down by his father, The First Spinjitzu Master and creator of all of Ninjago. It required an absolute state of calmness and peace of mind, so Wu settled into a meditative trance and emptied his mind. When he was so relaxed that he was close to sleeping off, a vision appeared to him so suddenly that he was almost shocked out of the trance.
Wu could barely make out a very sinister looking being, surrounded by the Serpentine atop what he vaguely recognized as the Golden Peaks, where the original Golden Weapons had been forged so many years ago.
His brother, Garmadon. With skin as dark as night and blood-red eyes, he cackled evilly and held up his hand in a very triumphant manner. In it, he held a quite strange looking staff, but Wu immediately recognized it as the Mega Weapon. All the four Golden Weapons merged into one, powerful ultra-weapon.
This was bad. As if Garmadon didn't already have enough power. With the power of creation from the Mega Weapon at his disposal, the Ninja were pretty much doomed.
Garmadon let himself smirk with pride and let out a cackle so evil that Wu felt his own consciousness spiral into darkness until there was nothing around him but a void and the echo of a laughter.
There was complete silence and emptiness for such a long time that Wu was beginning to wonder if maybe the vision was over, but suddenly a scene started to materialize in front of Wu like a new painting being formed.
Wu could see Lloyd, who looked remarkably older even though he was still clad in his Green Ninja Gi, standing before a hopelessly dark cloud that was spreading over everything and sapping the light and warmth out of anything it touched, killing upon contact. The Green Ninja readied himself and prepared to shoot a ball of pure green energy at the cloud of darkness, but it simply absorbed it and continued on its way, getting bigger and closer.
