Five weeks after Harry met Louis, the latter had to go back to London for a week, to attend to urgent business at his record label.

Since the day he went to have lunch with Louis and Margaret, their friendship had blossomed. In such a short period of time, they had fallen into a comfortable routine of Louis coming over every morning before Harry left to go to the bakery, and when Harry went back home in the evenings, Louis was already there, waiting on his front porch.

Harry hates to admit it, but he misses Louis. He really does. It scares him that he's gotten this attached to someone he hasn't even really known for all that long.

And even though they still haven't done anything more than share an awkward hug the day Louis came to say goodbye, he still wishes Louis would just come back already.

Sure, he has Niall and Zayn. But it's not the same. He doesn't quite know how to make sense of this whole situation and his feelings, all he knows is that it doesn't feel right to make dinner and then eat it alone. The sweet compliments and praise of a job well done after they had dinner every night, made him feel like he was doing something right. It made him feel important. It made him feel good. It made him feel happy.

And even though they send each other messages or voice notes every morning, during the day, and every night, it's still not the same as having Louis there.

He misses sitting outside on the swing chair with him, or rather him sitting and Louis laying on his back with his head on Harry's lap, talking about anything that pops into their heads while looking up at the stars.

He misses his house smelling like burnt popcorn, simply because Louis wants to prove that he can also 'cook' something.

He misses how every morning when he drinks his green smoothie, Louis has something to say about it. "Honestly Harry, how the fuck do you even stomach that shit." Or, "That looks fucking gross!" Or Harry's favourite- "Please don't drink that fucking shit in front of me."

But most of all he misses just sitting with Louis and admiring what he's like.

They haven't talked about it yet. But his heart aches every time he thinks of Margaret's words: "His boyfriend cheated on him, just like yours." How on earth could someone find it in their heart to cheat on Louis. He is honestly the most selfless and caring person Harry knows.

"Ni." Harry says when he closes the oven's door. "When Jack comes back, please ask him to keep an eye on the macarons, and fill them when they've cooled down. The fillings are in the fridge. I have to go catch up on some admin." He adds when Niall looks his way and nods his head once.

"When's Louis coming back?"

"Monday afternoon." Harry answers dryly and with a smirk Niall watches his best friend make his way to his office. He feels sorry for him. He really does. Ever since Louis went back to London four days ago, Harry's just not been himself.

Together with Zayn they try cheering him up, and it works, but his cheerful state only lasts for a few minutes before that longing look finds its way back to Harry's eyes and a half-hearted smile tugs at the corners of his mouth.

To say Niall does not like it, well that would be an understatement. It breaks his heart to see his best friend try and put on a happy face when in reality he doesn't really feel it's all.

So last night, Niall being Niall- did what according to him, any best friend would.

Niall: Hi Louis
Niall: It's Niall
Niall: Harry's friend

Louis: Hi Niall, is everything OK?

Niall: Yeah
Niall: Maybe
Niall: No, not really
