Today is a hard day.

Today is Kendall's 30th birthday.

Usually, we'll FaceTime Kendall and cut a cake for him since he's usually out of the country. But now we can't do that. We can't see his face, we can't hear his laugh, we feel his spirit.

Chanel's parents are throwing a barbecue to honor his 30th birthday. She doesn't want everyone to be mourning him and be sad for this birthday. She wants all of us to celebrate his life.

"How are you doing mamas?"

I walked into Chanel's room with a bag full of her favorite snacks and her favorite food.

"I'm trying to get through this day but it's, it's so hard Anahi. He was my everything and now he's gone. I told him don't join the army because everyone doesn't make it back home. But he didn't listen. He said it was meant for him to save lives in the army. They took him before he got a chance to meet his niece. He was so happy for me. But Ariana Kyndall is going to know everything about her uncle and how he saved hundreds of lives as a doctor in the Army."

We sat there for an hour eating the stuff I brought and talked about all of the memories we created with Kendall.

Losing a loved one will never be easy but it doesn't mean we have to be depressed the whole time while we mourn.

Kendall was like a brother to me, he kind of helped raise us in a way. With him being almost 10 years older than us he was always there to help us grow in a way. Even when he left to go to college and the Army, he still tried to keep in contact as much as he could.

Kendall used to come back during the holidays and take us on shopping sprees when we were younger. He was the loudest one at our graduation and the happiest on our birthdays. He was perfect. The sweetest and hardworking man I ever knew.

It sucks knowing that sweet people like him can get their lives taken so early, so violently.

We're going to forever celebrate Kendall Yang's life and we're going to do that until we take our last breath's.

"This makes it so real, like my best friend is really about to have a whole baby."

We had to convince Chanel to have a babyshower. She didn't want to since it's scheduled a week after Kendall's birthday. But it was the only date available before her due date at this specific venue.

Even though so much happened over the last couple of months. I couldn't sit by and let my best friend not enjoy a day that's all about her and her babygirl Ariana Kyndall.

So for the past two months Zahir and I have been planning a special day for her, from a spa treatment to an extravagant babyshower.

"Thank you, I really needed this spa day. It feels good to be pampered."

"You are forever welcomed. Now I need to take you to my house so we can get you dressed for your special day."

I helped her into the truck and walked towards the driver side to get in. Jakari let us use his truck for our errands.
