Y /N had insisted on spending the night alone in the hospital wing, despite Hermione's concerns. "I need some time to think," she had said, her voice steady but firm. Hermione wanted to argue, to offer her presence as a comfort, but she knew better than to push.

So, Hermione returned to the Gryffindor common room, her mind racing. She had to warn Harry about Y/N's situation. When she found him, his expression shifted from confusion to alarm as she relayed the news. "I need to write to Sirius," he said urgently, fear creeping into his voice. Dumbledore's announcement about increased patrols did little to ease the tension. Evil lurked in the shadows, and the air felt heavy with danger.

As Harry sat on the couch, holding the golden egg and staring into the fireplace, Hermione felt sympathy. She knew he had faced rejection with Cho, and the pressure of Y/N's situation had only increased his worries.

Just then, the common room door burst open, and a group of girls entered, supporting Ron as he stumbled in. His eyes were wide, his face pale as if he'd seen he-who-shall-not-be-named.

The door bursted open with a few girls surrounding Ron, holding him up for support. "It's okay Ron, really. It doesn't really matter," Ginny comforted her brother.

"What happened to you?" Harry exclaimed, jumping to his feet.

"What happened to you?" Harry asked, glancing at Ron and quickly standing up from the couch.

"He just asked Fleur Delacour out," Ginny said, her tone filled with concern but also some amusement as she helped Ron settle onto the couch.

"What?" Hermione's eyes widened in shock as she knelt beside Ron, soothing his knee. "What did she say?"

Harry put the golden egg down and leaned in closer. "No way she said yes."

Ron's lips pressed into a thin line as he shut his eyes tight, shaking his head.

Hermione cupped her hands over her mouth. "She said yes?" she gasped, her excitement bubbling up despite the tension in the room.

"Oh no. Nope." Ron finally spoke, his voice shaky. "There she was, walking by... you know how I feel when they walk." Harry nodded, understanding perfectly. Ginny gently stroked Ron's arm, encouraging him to continue.

"I just... couldn't help it. It slipped out." Ron's voice trailed off dramatically, his gaze fixed somewhere far away.

Ginny peered over at him, a teasing glint in her eye. "Actually, he kind of shouted really loud at her. I would've been scared if I were her."

"What did you do?" Harry asked.

Ron shook his head vigorously. "I just sort of ran. I ran like my life depended on it. I'm not cut out for this, Harry. The dancing, the ball, the asking out—"
