Within the central-district of the holy-city, Nathanial and his fellow knights would continue to guide the citizens to several safe-havens throughout the lower-district of the city. He would proceed to place several among their elite-knights near these safe-havens to guard and protect the citizens. Upon completing this task, Captain Nathanial would then make his way towards the monastery of Holy-Priests. Here, Nathanial would discover only a handful of them remaining and that only one among them could commune with the holy-king. The priests would be escorted from the temple, as a group of hollow-knights invaded the district once more.

Captain Nathanial and his fellow holy-knights would draw forth their blades and engage the hollow-knights in battle. these hollow-knights would not go down as easily as those from previous encounters, as they manage to push back Nathanial and his comrades throughout the confrontation. The Captain of The Order of Knights would have his subordinates hold fast against the enemy and show them the might of The Holy-King's faithful. Sure enough, the holy-knights would manage to repel the foot-soldiers of the underworld army, with Nathanial at the helm of their remaining numbers. This confrontation would result with Nathanial and only two holy-knights remaining.

As they were given a moment to breath, Nathanial would command his fellow knights to retreat to the lower-district of the holy-city. They would attempt to protest, but would eventually obey their commander's order to retreat to the district. Soon, a lone hollow-knight, dawned in a demonic set of heavy-armor and a great-sword would present himself before Captain Nathanial. The ominous-knight would gaze upon a battle-ready holy-knight and release a sinister snicker from underneath it's menacing horned-helm. As Nathanial questioned the hollow about it's reason for laughing, the knight would remove it's helm to reveal the founder of the holy-knights.

A hollowed-version of Sir Eldritch would stand before Captain Nathanial and mock his efforts of defending the holy-city. Nathanial could not believe his eyes and simply questioned the founder of his order for his betrayal. Eldritch would simply state that his reason for betraying the order and Holy-King was simply to usher in an inevitable fate. The Hollow-Knight would go on to explain that during the underworld incursion, he witness the cowardice of the holy-king, as the god of the overworld did absolutely nothing to save their kingdom from the demon-lord. Nathanial would argue that Lord Michael had sent down his divine-saber to aid humanity, with Eldritch stating that he only sent the blade at the request of the high-priestess.
