Within the upper-district of the holy-city, Callista and Sullivan have found themselves surrounded by a company of hollow-knights. They both would display their skills with the dreaded instrument of death and knowledge of spells associated with their death-god. After the climactic confrontation, the cries of a young-women would catch the attention of Sullivan, who rushed without hesitation to save her from a stray hollow. A holy knight would come and escort the young-woman to a safe-haven within the city, but not before she thanked the cult-leader. Having been given time to discuss their next move, Callista would decide to question her co-leader about his previous actions. The Matron of Death would ask Sullivan his reason for saving that young-woman from a hollow, as he quickly stated that it was not her time to die. Callista would playfully continue to question her disciple about his reasons and proceeded to ask him if the young-woman reminded him of Adrian, as an orphan in the streets on the verge of death.
Sullivan would become embarrassed and immediately attempted to have Callista focus back on their current objective. With the royal palace in sight of Callista and Sullivan, they would debate about confronting the demon-prince head-on, but Sullivan would disagree with that decision. Death's Harbinger would make the decision of him and his agents not getting directly involve, as his mind turned to Adrian. As Callista asked Sullivan what was he thinking about, a group of hollows made their way towards the two agents of death. Sullivan would draw forth his Black-Eye Scythe and instructed Callista to keep an eye on Adrian, while he dealt with the approaching enemy. Callista would vanish from the area in a purple-aura, as Sullivan found himself surrounded by a dozen hollows and gave-off a wicked smirk, while stating; "Come, Dance With Death If You Dare!"
With that, Sullivan would begin to tear through the enemy ranks and turned it into a little game just for the fun of it. Sullivan: " One, Your Done, Two, Your Through, Three, You And Me, Four, Your Just A Whore, Five, Take A Dive, Etc.!" Sullivan would blitz through a dozen of these hollows, while killing them each in a unique and skillful manner, till none were left standing. To his surprise, a new enemy would present themselves before Sullivan. The acolyte of death would turn his gaze upon the young-woman he had saved earlier, beside the deceased holy-knight that had escorted her from the area prior.
The woman would throw-off her façade and take on her true appearance, a priestess of the dark arts, dawned in black religous-robes. Sullivan would ask her true identity, but the woman would simply refer to herself as The Unholy Priestess and a devout follower of Lucian, The Demon-King. She would go on to ridicule the self-proclaimed agent of death for saving what appeared to be a damsel in distress. Sullivan would agree with her, then proceeded to take on a more dark and sadistic nature, as he gazed into her eyes with wide hollow-pupils. The Priestess would become a little unnerved and intrigued by Sullivan's new personification of death, as the air around him became heavy and an ominous aura engulfed his being.
In an instant, Death's Harbinger would attack the priestess head-on, but she was able to protect herself, with her staff for a time. She would then teleport a short distance away from Sullivan and unveil her illusion that revealed all the hollows Callista and Sullivan killed, were ordinary citizens and holy knights. She would proceed to resurrect them all with her staff and commanded this army of the undead to attack Sullivan. Although it appeared that Sullivan was completely outnumbered, the acolyte proceeded to cut them down one-by-one, while being bitten and pierced by their weapons. The Unholy-priestess would revel in the disciple of death's demise, as a trail of blood could be seen were Sullivan stood last among her minions. To the unholy matrons surprise, Sullivan would still be alive, despite the injuries he had suffered at the hands of The Dark Priestess's undead army.
Eventually, they would all perish in the battle, leaving a bloody Sullivan standing amongst the fallen, while glaring at the unholy-priestess, with murderous-intentions. This would only serve to anger the matron, as she casted a massive ball of black-flame from her staff and hurled it upon the death-god's acolyte and the bodies of the fallen knights and citizens. Sullivan would not move a single muscle and allowed the black-flames to engulf his entire being, till only ash remained. The priestess would take great satisfactory in eradicating Sullivan and prepared to take her leave. Just then, an eerie-voice would reach her ears, informing the priestess that her death was close at hand. An ominous aura and presence would instill a deep sense of dread and fear within the unholy sorceress.
Sullivan would re-emerge from the black-flames as a being cloaked in tattered black-robes and engulfed in a shadowy aura, with only his hands, feet, and the right-side of his face peering from the hood of his robes. As he slowly made his way towards the unholy-priestess, Sullivan would relay unto her "The Death-God-Contract," which is a ceremonial-contract enacted by the initiate and the Death-God itself. The Death-Contract blesses an individual with powers and abilities of the death-god himself, allowing Agents of Death to utilize several forms of dark-magic and are given near-immortality. Death's Harbinger would conclude the history lesson of his cult by stating that one among them is eventually chosen to become; "Death's Incarnation," were they shall become death itself.
The Acolyte had taken on his Aspect of Death, after Reciting the phrase: " Let The Bell Toll," Which ironically caused the city's church-bell to toll throughout the districts of the city. This would catch the ear of Callista, as she knew that Sullivan was on the verge of delivering a most worthy mortal-soul to their lord of souls and would revel at the thought of it all. Before he would claim her soul, Sullivan would surprise the unholy-priestess, by calling out her name, Alice of The Sacred-City! This would only further instill fear into the priestess, which resulted in the dark-priestess displaying more forms of the dark arts upon the harbinger of death.
Each spell casted upon Sullivan, would result in his death and resurrection, resulting in Alice casting her weakest spell upon the acolyte. Several crows and ravens would surround the disciple of death and be commanded to tear Sullivan to pieces. To Alice's surprise, the birds would simply flock all around Sullivan, as they revered not only the demon-king, but death as well. Sullivan would command the birds to assault Alice, which distracted her from the acolyte appearing before her. She would attempt to retaliate, but Sullivan would end her with one swipe of his scythe. As Alice's body faded from reality and her soul would be displayed before him, Death's Harbinger would claim her soul, while stating that the bell had tolled for her.
