"Remember Y/N, you need to remember," a brown-eyed boy said to you, with tears in his eyes.
All you knew were that you didn't know anything. You had nothing, no past, no one, just HYDRA and their orders, and the overwhelming urge to kill.
You fought against the restraints he had placed you in, hating that a flicker of recognition lit within you at the name he used for you.
No. I'm HYDRA. I'm HYDRA. I don't know who Y/N is.
"Remember when we were three and you hit someone for making fun of me?"
You vehemently shook your head. No, no, this isn't how I was washed-
Washed?
"Remember when we were five and I tripped over and you bandaged me all on your own because your dad taught you how?"
"Remember when we were seven and you moved to Indonesia and we both cried because we thought we'd be apart forever?"
A tear slipped down your cheek at a long-buried emotion with you, as you still struggled in vain.
"Remember when you came back when you were eleven and I kissed you on the cheek, and none of our friends let us live it down?"
"Remember when you were thirteen and your mother died, and I held you at her funeral?"
"Remember when you were fifteen and you said "I love you, Peter Parker" and we started dating?"
No. No. NO!
"And then remember when you were kidnapped by HYDRA, brainwashed and taken away from me? And you forgot everything? Please Y/N, I love you, come back to me!"
The words awoke something within you, and suddenly memory after memory flooded into your consciousness, all of them containing the brown-eyes boy in front of you.
"Peter," you breathed, his name like a sigh of relief upon your lips, which quickly turned to fear. This has to be too good to be true. It had to be a HYDRA nightmare. "A-Are you real?"
"Y/N," he replied, your name little more than a sob. He undid your restraints and you leapt into his arms, crying heavily all the while. "I'm here. I'm here."
"How many people did I hurt?" you managed to ask once you had hugged him tight enough to believe he would never let go.
The raging guilt accompanied by your sudden return of memories was associated with your current lack of memories of HYDRA. You desperately needed to know what atrocities you had committed, and how you could ever make up for them.
"Don't do that to yourself," Peter told you gently, running a thumb over your bottom lip. "That wasn't you."
He leaned forwards, mustering the courage to kiss you, and, just for the moment, you let yourself melt in his arms.
